,

At present, 1.25 lakh people travel daily at the railway station. The design of the station has been decided keeping in mind three lakh passengers. The target to complete the redevelopment of the railway station in 2027 with two 16 -storey buildings has been kept. The country’s largest Concourse (54,160 square meters) is being built at this station. Concourse is a large area where people come or sit.

The first rear platforms will be made Currently there are 12 platforms and 16 tracks at the railway station, however, three platforms have been closed due to bullet train work, ie 9 platforms are on. Work on the new platform in the station will be done one after the other, the first platforms will be built, which will gradually reach the first platform. When the renovation work of the station is completed, 12 stations will be reopened.

Where has the development work of Kalupur railway station reached? What will be the largest assembly constituency in the country? What will be the elevated road network to reach the station? To find out all these things, Bhaskar’s team reached the ground zero.

The redevelopment of Ahmedabad railway station is being done by RLDA. Both RLDA (Railway Land Development Authority) and Indian Railways fall under the Ministry of Railways. The work of RLDA is to develop the vacant land of the railway. Along with Kalupur, about 1300 small and big railway stations in the country are being renewed at a cost of crores, including 16 stations including Ahmedabad, Sabarmati, Maninagar, Bhuj, Vatwa, Asarwa, Bhildi, Veeramgam, Dhranjandra in Gujarat.

16 -storey MMTH building will be built at the station In the renovation of the railway station, two 16 -storey buildings will be built, which will be called MMTH Building (Multimodal Hub), one of which will have North Tower in South and the other. Currently, work on the southern tower is going on. Work is going on here on two basements, which is going to be completed. Railway officials will stay on 4 floors of South Tower, and there will be food courts, hotels and commercial places on the remaining floors.

Parking up to 4 floors in northern tower Whereas in the North Tower, parking up to 4 floors and each floor above it will be leased for commercial purposes. A toran gate will be built between these two towers, inspired by the Modhera Sun Temple. Large hotels like Lemon Tree and Hyatt have been given a floor, so that they can change and design their own way.

4 lifts and 4 accelerator will be installed on the platform Apart from this, 4 lifts and 4 accelerator will be installed on the platform. However, this design may also change a lot, everything is not finalized yet. We will know in two months what facilities will be there. Parking will be made for 3300 cars at the station. It does not have half the parking space in the largest mall in Ahmedabad. Ahmedabad railway station will become the first station in India where passengers will be able to avail railway, bullet train, metro and city bus facilities from the same place.

India’s largest concourse area will look like this A huge station building will be built next to both towers, which will be called the Concourse area (where it can be admitted and exit). It will be the largest concourse area in the country. Any passenger coming to this railway station will have to enter the platform only after passing through this Concourse area. For the convenience of passengers, the size of the concourse has been increased to 54,160 square meters. This assembly constituency will have many facilities including ticket booking, food court, restaurant, waiting area and VIP lounge.

Tunnel will be built for parcel handling A new setup is being prepared for parcel handling. A separate tunnel will be built to ensure that people do not cause trouble due to the movement of parcel. The parcel will not be placed on the platform to protect any passenger passing through this tunnel. A separate area will be created for this. An entrance will be built at Sarangpur Gate behind the station, which will be effective as entry from the main gate of Kalupur railway station. Apart from this, work is being done to provide direct entry from underground metro to bullet train station and from bullet train station to new station’s Concourse area.

Bhumi Pujan Celebration in 2024, target to complete by June 2027 On 26 February 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for renewal of Ahmedabad railway station through a video-conference, which has been targeted to be completed by June 2027. The central government has sanctioned Rs 10,000 crore for three prestigious stations in the country, including railway stations in Ahmedabad, Mumbai and New Delhi. Like Ahmedabad, work has started in Mumbai, while the tender process for New Delhi station is still going on.

Kalupur is an important railway station of Western Railway Regarding the redevelopment of Kalupur railway station of Ahmedabad, Divya Bhaskar spoke to Sudhir Sharma, DRM (Divisional Railway Manager) of Western Railway Ahmedabad Division, said that the Indian Railways is going through a change of change at this time. A part of this change is capacity increase, ie increase in passenger facility and multimodal integration. Kalupur railway station, considered the main railway station of Ahmedabad, is not only of Ahmedabad division, but also an important railway station of the entire Western Railway. More than one and a half lakh passengers visit here daily.

Bullets, metro and railway facilities are all in one place Three-four major changes are taking place in the redevelopment project of Kalupur railway station. The first is that the passengers get the best world class facilities at the station. The second is that the four means of transport- Railways, Metro, City Bus and Bullet Trains- are connected to each other at one place and people have more and more options to go to another place. Thirdly, the capacity of additional trains and trains with better facilities should be increased.

Development has been done in such a way that the identity of the Heritage city should be strong After doing all this, Kalupur railway station is being developed in such a way that the Heritage City title Ahmedabad has got the title of city, it will grow further in the future. All these items will be available to the public at Kalupur railway station in the coming days. The good news is that whatever work has been done so far, it has been safely and good. In the same way, work will continue in the same way and the most important thing is that work is being done for the convenience of all passengers. AMC and State Government are getting full support in this entire project.

Road networks will also be upgraded Development of elevated road network is a major task to reach Kalupur railway station and it is to be completed soon. The project involves not only the development of the station, but also upgrading the surrounding road network. Kalupur railway overbridge and Sarangpur railway overbridge located near the station are both old overbridges, so both overbridges are being broken and new overbridges are being built.

To reach Kalupur railway station, one has to go 10 meters above the ground. A large elevated road will be built above. An elevated road network will be created, connecting Kalupur Bridge and Sarangpur Bridge, which will connect Kalupur overbridge directly to Sarangpur overbridge. The entire project has been planned in such a way that the road below this elevated road is also wide than its current size. This will reduce traffic in Kalupur.

The plan is made keeping in mind the vision up to 2060 Work has started on this elevated road and pillars have been erected. Sarangpur bridge has also been closed. The scheme is made keeping in mind 2060. Since Kalupur is a very crowded area, a 6 -lane bridge will be built from Kalupur Bridge to Sarangpur Bridge. This elevated road will provide direct access from Kalupur and Sarangpur to railway stations. All footover bridges outside the station will be removed.

Difference between Green Field Project and Brown Field Project It is a major project to develop Ahmedabad station, which is an estimated cost of Rs 2380 crore. The project is not a green field project. It is a brown field project. The brown field project means that when this project is being built, vehicles are also running at that time, people are also coming, traffic is going on on the streets and such a big work is going on between them.

There is also a lot of difficulty in bringing construction materials in urban areas like Ahmedabad, such as heavy vehicles are banned during the day, so the material has to be brought at night. If you are working on the platform and you have to cross the railway line to carry some goods, then you have to block the railway line and work.

Why is this project challenging? Apart from this, a power supply line of 25,000 volts is also running on the railway track, which also has to be blocked, due to which one has to work in a limited time period. If you want to run a big machinery, then you have to work in such a way that the safety of the passengers or the movement of the train does not have any effect in any way. All these things make this project more challenging. Whereas the Green Field Project means that you have a separate place to work, on which you can easily work by making barricades all around. There is no problem in bringing or carrying any material to such a place.

Three agencies are working together Three-four agencies are working together where this station is being built. RLDA is working on the construction of Kalupur railway station. Station construction is being done by National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL). Apart from this, various works are being done by NHSRCL including girder launching and construction of separate tracks. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a vision that all people should work together, so that such a situation does not come that one agency should work and the other agency stops the work. DRM should hold a meeting of all agencies every 10-15 days, so that no work stops.

Passengers can get the facility of railway, bullet train, metro rail and city bus simultaneously to ensure that passengers are being planned. The government believes that there should be a 50 -year plan for the railway station, which should include facilities like Railways, Platform, Hi -Tech Concourse Area, State -of -the -art buildings, waiting areas, hotels, food courts, shopping centers and rooftop plazas.
