A major incident of firing took place in Mokama, Bihar on Wednesday (22 January 2025), in which there was a shootout between Mokama’s powerful leader and former MLA Anant Singh and the infamous Sonu-Monu gang. It is being told that around 60-70 rounds of bullets were fired in this incident. The incident took place in Nauranga-Jalalpur village of Mokama block. Anant Singh narrowly escaped during the firing. At the same time, one of his supporters, Uday Yadav, is reported to have been shot, who has been admitted to a private hospital in Patna for treatment.

After this firing incident, Nauranga village has been converted into a police cantonment. The administration has made strict arrangements to maintain peace in the area.

Flood DSP Rakesh Kumar said, “Police reached the spot as soon as information about the incident was received. Three shells have been recovered from the spot. So far, three FIRs have been registered, one of which has been filed by the police against both Sonu-Monu and Anant Singh. All the accused involved in the incident are being identified.” He said that heavy police force has been deployed in the village after the incident. Police from several police stations of Barh sub-division are camping at the spot.

Anant Singh regarding this incident talk to media While calling Sonu-Monu as ‘kidnapper’ and ‘thief’. He said, “Criminals like Sonu-Monu are making the lives of the villagers hell. If the police had acted on time, this incident would not have happened. I don’t care about any case. I stand with the people.” Anant Singh also said that he had come to solve the problems of the poor people of the village. He alleged that Sonu-Monu gang opened fire first, after which their supporters retaliated.
