Mukhawa has a winter residence of Maa Ganga. Mother Ganga is brought to Mukhawa village from Gangotri Dham during the winter season. His temple in Mukhwa is followed by Aarti and Pooja daily. Mother in Makhwa considers Ganga as a rural daughter and sends Gangotri’s doors off when she opens the doors.
The priests who worship in Gangotri Dham are also residents of this Mukhwa village. It is said that Adi Shankaracharya established the back of Mother Ganga in Mukhawa village. The old statue of Maa Ganga is installed in the temple here. It worships throughout the year.

PM Modi said, “It is the affection of Mother Ganga that I have come to her maternal uncle Mukhwa village, here I have got the privilege of worship in Mukheemath … A few years ago, when I went to her feet to see Baba Kedar, some expressions appeared from my mouth. I said that this decade is from Uttarakhand. ”
He said, “With the blessings of Baba Kedar, he is turning into the truth… Here new avenues are opening for the progress of Uttarakhand. During this period, PM Modi congratulated the ropeway approved from Sonprayag to Kedarnath recently. PM Modi said that now a new infra is being built on the mountains. He said that efforts are on to settle back two villages which were vacated in the 1962 war.
