The year 2024 is over now. This year will also be remembered for the hit of inflation. There is no such food item on which the dark shadow of witchcraft inflation has not fallen. Its biggest impact was on the common man. It is expected that in the new year the government will take some steps and prices will be controlled.

There was no control on rising inflation at the government and administration level. Rising inflation is troubling people of every section.

This expenditure was incurred in purchasing the same items which were being purchased at low rates till a few days ago. The fire of inflation in flour, pulses, oil, spices and dry fruits has also reached vegetables.

In these 12 months, an increase of nine to 100 percent has been recorded in the prices of food items. In December 2023, the prices of soybean, mustard and other edible oils were Rs 120 to 130 per liter. In December 2024, their prices increased to Rs 140-150 per liter.

Vegetables also made me cry throughout the year

  • Vegetables which were available at Rs 30 to 40 per kg, are being available at Rs 60 to 80 per kg this December. Due to this, the monthly kitchen budget of every house has increased by Rs 500 to Rs 1000.
  • Vivek Sahu, General Secretary of Bhopal Grocery Traders Federation, says that the government has increased the export of wheat abroad. Due to this, the arrival of wheat in grain markets started decreasing and flour became expensive.
  • Due to increase in import duty on crude oils of soybean, sunflower and palm oil, the price of soybean, sunflower and palm oil increased from Rs 100 per liter to Rs 137 per liter. Due to palm oil becoming expensive in the international market, the prices of edible oils increased.
  • Mohammad Naseem, Chairman of Karond Vegetable Market Wholesalers Welfare Committee, says that this year the yield of crops and vegetables was 25 to 30 percent less due to unseasonal rains.

From December 2023 to December 29-2024, grocery prices increased from nine percent to 100 percent. At the same time, the most expensive were makhana and big cardamom.

..and this is how the kitchen budget of every house increased

Economist RG Dwivedi says that the prices of groceries and vegetables have increased in the last one year. Inflation continued to increase slowly. Daily essential food items increased by 50 percent. Due to this, the kitchen budget of every house has increased by 20 to 25 percent.

For example, in a four to five member family, the grocery items used to cost Rs 2500 to 3000 thousand every month. Now material worth Rs 3500 to Rs 4000 has started arriving. At the same time, 1200 to 1800 vegetables were received every month, the budget of which has doubled.
