… Then why dubbing Tamil films in Hindi? DMK answered Pawan Kalyan’s question

Pawan Kalyan’s Question on Tamil Films Dubbing: Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) today responded to the question on the language dispute of actor -turned -actor Pawan Kalyan. Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan accused the politicians of Tamil Nadu of hypocrisy. He questioned why he opposed to the imposition of Hindi, while Tamil films are allowed to dub in Hindi for commercial benefits.

DMK spokesperson Dr. Syed Hafeezullah dismissed Kalyan’s argument and described it as a hollow understanding of Tamil Nadu’s stand on linguistic policies. He said, “Tamil Nadu has never opposed the people who have learned Hindi or any other language. We oppose the people of our state to impose Hindi or any language.”

This denial of DMK has come amid the debate on the National Education Policy (NEP) and the Center promoting Hindi, which has been historically opposed by Tamil Nadu. DMK leaders say that it is an excessive simplification to consider language policy as dubbing of commercial decisions – as dubbing of films, which ignores the state’s long -term linguistic state.

What did Pawan Kalyan say

Kalyan, the founder of the Janasena Party, a prominent NDA, and a supporter of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, targeted the politicians of Tamil Nadu to protest against Hindi. He questioned why Tamil Nadu leaders oppose Hindi, while Tamil films have been dubbed in Hindi keeping in mind the national audience.

Kalyan asked, “I do not understand why some people criticize Sanskrit.” Why do Tamil Nadu politicians oppose Hindi, while allowing their films to be dubbed in Hindi for financial benefits? They want laborers from Bihar, but are opposing Hindi. What kind of argument is this? “

DMK replied that there are already Hindi promotional meetings in Tamil Nadu, which voluntarily teaches Hindi to interested people. Hafeezullah said, “If people want to learn Hindi, they are welcome. The issue arises when the Central Government makes Hindi learning mandatory through policies like NEP or PM Shri schools.” Senior DMK leader TKS Alangovan reiterated Hafeezullah’s statement and said that Tamil Nadu has always been the same on the language issue.

Alangovan said, “We have been opposing Hindi since 1938. We had passed a law in the state assembly that Tamil Nadu would always follow two-language formula, because this was done due to the advice and suggestion of experts in the field of education, not the actors. Has been opposed, because we feel that education in mother tongue is the best way to train people.

The BJP supported Kalyan’s remarks. The party argued that Hindi as the national language of India should be promoted more aggressively in the southern states. BJP leader Vikram Randhawa said, “Hindi is our national language and the government is working to ensure that it reached the general public. Unfortunately, previous governments have tried to suppress the culture of nationalism. Use of Hindi should be implemented strongly in the south as well.”
