A couple of months ago, I made one of the hardest decisions of my life: I left my cushy, high-paying (₹1 Cr+) job without another offer in hand.
No plan. No backup. Just the decision that I needed a break—a real one—for the first time in my decade-long career.

Happiness: Hasija considers happiness in work as inevitable. He asked, “If your workplace doesn’t give you joy, excitement or happiness, is there any point in it?”
Effect: He gives importance to creating tangible value through his work. “Impact keeps me going,” he explained, citing examples of solving customer problems or launching game-changing features.
Adding Money: For Hasija, appropriate financial rewards – whether employee stock ownership (ESOP) in a startup or bonuses in a cash-rich company – remain important.
He said that “pleasure” and “impact”, two key elements, were missing in his high-paying job in Bengaluru. These two factors were the primary reasons why he quit his job and decided to take a break.
However, he admitted that his Bengaluru-based edtech job had failed to meet his first job priorities. He wrote, “The focus shifted from service to cervical. Internal dynamics changed, and maintaining appearances took precedence over meaningful work.
Although sending his resignation was difficult, Hasija felt it was necessary. “Sometimes, moving forward is the only option,” he concluded, and encouraged others to stop, reflect and be proud of their journey.
