It said technological advancements, demographic shifts, geo-economic tensions and economic pressures are the key drivers of these changes, which are reshaping industries and businesses around the world. Based on data from more than 1,000 companies, the study found that the skills gap remains the biggest barrier to business transformation today.

The report notes that nearly 40 percent of the skills required for a job are changeable, and 63 percent of employers already cite this as the main hurdle they face. It said the demand for technical skills in artificial intelligence (AI), big data and cyber security is expected to increase rapidly, but human skills such as creative thinking, flexibility and agility will remain important. In a rapidly changing job market, it will be important to combine both technology and human skills.
