After this ban came into effect from Sunday, Apple Hub confirmed that TikTok has been removed from the US App Store. Many American users saw the message of offline after opening TikTok, which some users have shared on the social media platform.

Reason for ban and controversy

There was a debate going on about the issues of data privacy and national security on TikTok for a long time. American officials believe that ByteDance, the company that operates TikTok, is linked to the Chinese government and American users’ data is at risk of being leaked.

Amidst these allegations, the US government passed a new law, under which TikTok was banned in the country.

According to Apple Hub, the TikTok app has been removed from the US App Store. This means that now new users cannot download this app and existing users will also not be able to use this app.

Mixed reactions were seen on social media regarding the TikTok ban. Some users called it the right move, while others expressed their displeasure. One user wrote, “This ban was necessary for our safety.”

While another said, “Without TikTok, social media would become boring.” It is noteworthy that on June 29, 2020, ‘TikTok’ app was banned in India.
