Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was born on this day on 19 February as Shivaji Bhosle (1630-1680 AD). He was a prominent warrior and founder of the Maratha Empire, who was known for his progressive leadership, military skills and conflict for self -government. Shivaji’s efforts to free India from foreign rule and his emphasis on good governance gave him the status of a great warrior.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj started capturing forts at the age of 16 and his first attack was with the aim of looking at the crisis on Hindus.
