Today In History 20th January: Talking about film production, India is one of the countries producing the most films in the world in terms of numbers and cinematographers play an important role in the production of every film. Dadasaheb Phalke Award was established in the year 1969 to reward those who have made significant contribution in film production and the great cinematographer of the film world VK Murthy was given the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the year 2008. This was the first time that a cinematographer was awarded this top honor of the film world. People of the previous generation will be aware of the name of VK Murthy. Cinematographer VK Murthy, who shot Guru Dutt’s best black and white films ‘Chaudhvin Ka Chand’, ‘Kaagaz Ke Phool’ and ‘Saheb Biwi Aur Ghulam’, released between 1957 and 1962, was selected for the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the year 2008. And he was given this award on 20 January 2010. A cinematographer had to wait a long time to receive this highest honor in the film industry.

- 2009: Barack Obama became the 44th President of America. He was the first American of African origin to hold this position.
- 2018: India won the title for the second consecutive time in the Cricket World Cup played among the blind.
- 2021: Kamala Harris becomes the first female Vice President of America.
