Today in history 3rd February: The day of February 3 has been a witness to some tragic events. On February 3, 1954, 500 people died after a stampede during Prayag Kumbh in Allahabad. This untoward incident, which took place on this holy festival of faith, which pulled crores of people to the confluence, left tears in thousands of eyes forever. After this incident, extensive changes were made in the arrangements made during the Kumbh Mela and the fair format. Similarly, in the year 2006 it was the day of February 3, when more than a thousand people lost their lives due to a passenger boat being drowned in the Red Sea in Egypt.

- 1925: The first electric train ran between Bombay and Kurla.

- 1969: Kanjeevaram Natarajan Annadurai Tamil Nadu leader CN Annadurai passed away.
- 1971: America’s spacecraft Apollo landed on the surface of the 14 moon during the third successful manic campaign on the moon.
- 1986: The Pope met Mother Teresa in Calcutta and visited the ashram ‘Nirmal Hriday’ made by her to serve the afflicted.
- 1988: INS Chakra, the first submarine operated with atomic power, was included in the Indian Navy.
- 2006: A passenger of Egypt drowned in the Red Sea due to bad weather. More than 1000 people died in this accident.
- 2018: India recorded a record victory for the fourth time in the Under-19 Cricket World Cup held in New Zealand.
