Historical events in India, Mahatma Gandhi started salt satyagraha

• 1930 On this day, on March 12, Mahatma Gandhi started the Salt Satyagraha, which was a historical work of civil disobedience against British salt monopoly. This 24-day march from Sabarmati Ashram to Dandi was a symbol of India’s freedom struggle and inspired international support.
• In 1954, Sahitya Akademi was established to promote literature in Indian languages, in which prestigious awards such as Sahitya Akademi Award were given.
• In 1993, bomb blasts in Mumbai, resulting in over 250 people killed and more than 700 injured. The explosion was hatched by Dawood Ibrahim and his associates.
