Chief Election Commissioner of the Election Commission of India Rajiv Kumar has announced the dates of Delhi Assembly elections in a press conference on Tuesday. Voting will be held in Delhi on February 5 and the winners will be declared on February 8. During the announcement of election dates, Rajiv Kumar, while addressing the press conference, said that the youth should keep increasing participation in democracy. I hope that democracy will continue to strengthen in the times to come.
Total number of voters crossed 99 crores
Rajiv Kumar said that very soon we are going to become a country with 100 crore voters, the total number of voters has crossed 99 crore. A new record has been made in the Lok Sabha elections. Violence free elections have been conducted. Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that some concerns were raised by political parties. It was said that names have been wrongly added and removed from the voter list. He said that due process is strictly followed in removing or adding names from the voter lists, there is no scope for any manipulation. Even after answering about EVMs, it was said that EVMs can be manipulated. Rajeev Kumar said that Indian voters are very aware. Stories are still circulating regarding voter lists.
On the allegations of wrong entry in the voter list, he said that it is sad to hear such allegations. This is EVM election. A complaint has been made about deletion of names from the voter list. Voter list information is also given to every party.
