Trump Tariff War has shaken stock markets around the world. Meanwhile, Trump, while talking to the media at Joint Base Andrews on Sunday night, defended his recent tariffs against Canada, Mexico and China and also threatened that the European Union may have to suffer a similar loss. The European Commission criticized the tariff imposed by Trump on three countries, saying the step affects global trade and is harmful to all. He warned that if the European Union (EU) was targeted, he would also answer.

EU will not accept arbitrary tariff

According to European media, the EU spokesperson said, ‘The European Union is sorry for the US’s decision to levy a fee on Canada, Mexico and China. He described the adherence to open trade system and international trade regulations as necessary for economic development. He said that imposing fees increases economic instability and increases inflation, causing damage to all sides. If the US imposes a fee on European products, the spokesperson clarified that “the EU will react strictly against any unfair or arbitrary fee.” He said that trade and investment relations between the US and the European Union are the largest in the world, and this relationship is very important.

Since the beginning of Donald Trump’s second term, Brussels have been trying to strengthen trade relations between the two sides and talk to avoid trade war. But last week, Trump again said that he will definitely impose ‘fees’ on the products of the European Union. According to the Xinhua News Agency report, on Saturday, Trump signed an order, which decided to impose 10 percent on imported goods from China and 25 percent on goods coming from Mexico and Canada. The move was widely opposed and many countries retaliated. In response, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said that it would file a complaint with the World Trade Organization (WTO) and take steps to protect its interests.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that 25 percent fee would be levied on goods worth $ 21 billion imported from the US from Tuesday. Mexico President Claudia Shinbam has also instructed its officials to adopt fee and other business measures to protect the interests of the country.
