After Donald Trump came to power in America, the biggest action ever taken against illegal immigrants has started. Illegal immigrants are being arrested and deported. The Indian Foreign Ministry has said that Indians living in America or any other country without proper documents will be helped to return home, but for this they will have to present documents that confirm their Indian citizenship.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal replied
- On Russia-Ukraine relations: This conflict should be resolved through diplomacy and dialogue. PM Modi has already said that this is not the era of war.
- On the question of Trump and tariffs: Relations between India and America are very strong. The economic and bilateral relations between the two countries are very special. There is deep trust in the relations between the two countries. It is the intention from both the countries that this relationship will be further strengthened. Will be taken forward with great thinking. In 2023, our trade in goods and services was at a record level.
- On illegal immigrants: Our policy and policies are clear regarding illegal immigrants. We are against it. It is related to organized crime. If someone is staying outside illegally, we are ready to take back the Indian citizen.
- On NDTV’s question about delay in visa processing: We have seen that after Covid, visas, especially American visas, were taking a lot of time. Even today the situation is similar. We have been talking to the government there on this issue. If there is ease in granting visas then economic and cultural relations will be strengthened. This time the Foreign Minister has also put this issue before America’s new Foreign Minister Marco Rubio.
- On China’s huge dam: India has expressed its concerns regarding China’s mega hydro project to the Chinese government. We believe that this will be implemented.
Regarding illegal immigration, State Department spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “…we are against illegal immigration, especially as it is linked to many forms of organized crime. Not just in the United States, but around the world.” For Indians living anywhere, if they are Indian citizens and overstay, or they are in a particular country without proper documents, we will take them back, provided they share the documents with us. so that we can understand their nationality We can verify their identity and ensure that they are indeed Indians. If so, we will pursue the case and help them get back to India.”
On the question related to the protest against the screening of the film ‘Emergency’ by Khalistan supporters in Britain, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “We have seen several reports that how the film ‘Emergency’ is being screened in many halls. We continue to raise concerns with the UK government about incidents of violent protests and intimidation by anti-India elements. We hope that the UK side will take appropriate action against those responsible. Our High Commission in London is in regular touch with them for the safety and benefit of our community.”
On tariff matters, the External Affairs Ministry spokesperson said, “India-US relations are very strong, multidimensional and the economic relationship is something that is very special… We have discussed any matter or trade-related matters between the US and India. … Our approach has always been to resolve issues in a constructive manner that is in keeping with the interests of both countries… We are in close touch with the US administration…”
