During this time, air quality will be monitored keeping in mind the environmental protection, whose responsibility has been entrusted to the Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board (MPPCB). Before burning waste, the Pollution Control Board has installed equipment to measure air quality around the company premises.

With these devices, the dust particles, toxic gases and other elements present in the air will be constantly examined. During the burning process, air quality will be monitored and real-time monitoring has also been arranged for this.

24 hours air quality figures are recorded

Please tell that in January itself, the garbage of Union Carbide has been brought to Pithampur. There is already a Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Station, which records 24 -hour air quality figures.

These figures are shown on the digital display at the main entrance of the company, so that common people can also know the status of air quality in real time. The gases present in the smoke emanating from the chimney of the incinerator will be constantly monitored.

Garbage will burn at 1200 degrees

Three trials will be carried out between 27 February and 27 March, in which 10-10 tonnes of garbage will be burnt during each trial. It will be destroyed at high temperatures of 1200 ° C. According to experts, burning at such high temperatures will effectively destroy the elements that pollute the environment.

Four landfill cells made

Special landfills have been made in the company premises for safe disposal of ash survived after burning garbage. The ash will be preserved in double-layer high-density polythene, so that it remains safe for years.

The company’s plant has four landfill cells to protect dangerous waste ash. These landfills are established in the plateau region so that there is no negative effect on ground water or other environmental factors.

Various quantities will be investigated during trial

  • 135 kg per hour
  • 180 kg per hour
  • 270 kg per hour

Continuous monitoring will continue

The pollution control board will continuously monitor the air quality while burning the waste of Yuka. Already equipment has been installed to measure air quality around the company premises. – SN Dwivedi, Regional Officer, Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board
