Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announced the winners of two prestigious startup challenges – Avinya’25 and Vasudha – at a special ceremony held at ONGC Headquarters today. The announcement was made at the conclusion of ‘Energizing India: Catellizing Growth Through Startup Innovation’, a high-level conference, in which the veterans, investors and newmen of the energy sector came together.
India’s leading energy startup competition, Urjano resident of Avinya’25, was Private Limited. The runners -up Breath ESG Private Limited, Agrivijay, Eporero Energy and Eugrin Technology. The global startup challenge in the upstream oil and gas sector, the winner for Vasudha was the Latin Energy Partners INC, Paraguay and the runner -up Altrasound Process Consulting LLC, USA.
These winning startups have emerged from a highly competitive field. Avinya’25 received 173 applications from all over India, while Vasudha attracted global participation in important areas including seismic data interpretation, AI applications and carbon capture technologies. In his address on the occasion, Minister Hardeep Singh Puri highlighted the important role of public undertakings under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas in promoting innovation through a startup fund of Rs 547.35 crore. Supporting 303 startups with Rs 286.36 crore, these efforts carry forward the lively ecosystem of more than 110 unicorn in India, and generate transformational development and employment opportunities.
Speaking on the diversification of energy supply sources, Puri said that India has already walked on this path. He said, “Earlier we used to import from 27 countries; Now we are importing from 39 countries and negotiations are going on with some other countries.” He emphasized that diversification provides strategic benefits by ensuring broad geographical expansion. He said, “Our imports are directed by fundamental, self-appreciated principles: we will get energy from wherever energy will be available at the right price.”
Regarding the target of achieving 20% ​​ethanol mixture, Puri reported that India has already reached 19% mixture. Expressing confidence of crossing the target before the scheduled time, he said that the discussion has started to develop a plan ahead with a 20 percent mixture.
