Amidst the efforts to bring 337 tonnes of toxic waste of Union Carbide from Bhopal to Pithampur for disposal, Urban Administration and Housing Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said on Tuesday that until the public representatives are satisfied that this waste will not cause any harm to the health of the citizens. No, till then he will not be allowed to come to Pithampur.
He said that we will also discuss this matter with the officials of the Pollution Control Board. On the other hand, container trucks filled with garbage are parked in the Union Carbide premises.
Officials said that security related reports have been sought from the collectors of the five districts through which these trucks are to pass. After this a decision will be taken to send them back.
Lawyer’s allegation – The Alumni Association of MGM Medical College has filed a PIL in the High Court against the shifting of garbage by different numbers of trucks filled with garbage.
An application for urgent and immediate hearing was also made in the petition, but the hearing could not be held on Tuesday.
- Advocate Abhinav Dhanotkar, who filed the petition on behalf of the association, alleged that the government had given the numbers of the trucks through which the garbage was to be shifted in the High Court, but the poisonous waste was filled in other trucks.
- Garbage has been loaded in them, the numbers of those trucks and the numbers of the trucks mentioned in the High Court are different. Abhinav said that the PIL presented before the Indore bench has been shifted to Jabalpur for hearing on Tuesday evening.
Security increased at the plant, wire fencing and fencing is being maintained

- Here, more than ten organizations have called for Pithampur bandh on January 3 to protest against burning of garbage. Pithampur Bachao Samiti is going to protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on January 2.
- Importantly, there are five industries in the area near the plant. Arrangements have been made to ensure the continued operation of these industries.
- As fast as the administration is preparing, the agitators are also preparing for the protest on a large scale. Preparations are being made to protest not only in Pithampur but also in Delhi.
- It is noteworthy that in Jabalpur High Court, Madhya Pradesh Government through the Advocate General has to submit its reply through an affidavit on January 3 in the case related to destruction of Union Carbide’s waste.
- In such a situation, preparations are being made on a large scale to prepare a satisfactory reply in the court. With complete preparation, Collector in-charge Abhishek Chaudhary and Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar Singh held a meeting at CSP office Pithampur on Tuesday afternoon. In this, discussions were held with the responsible officers along with the police force.
border security efforts
- The process of special wire fencing on the boundary wall has been started at the plant of Ramki Company. To ensure that no one can enter here, digging and new construction work has also been started.
- SDM, Tehsildar, CSP, 10 to 15 officers of several police station incharge level and policemen working in civil dress of cyber cell were present in the meeting.
- Armed police forces will be deployed around the Waste Management Company and plain dress police forces will be deployed around the village.
