Indore all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer was in the news for his excellent performance in the 2nd season of IPL i.e. 2023 and 2024, but this time he is in the news for being sold at 11 times more than his base price.

Iyer, who had a base price of only Rs 2 crore, was bought by KKR for Rs 23.75 crore in the mega auction held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. With this he has become the third most expensive Indian player of IPL.
According to Indore cricket expert Raju Singh Chauhan, his excellent performance with the bat in recent times is the main reason for his selling at such a high price.
3 big reasons due to which Venkatesh was sold at such a high price…
1. Excellent performance in IPL In total, Iyer has scored 1326 runs in 51 matches in 4 seasons of IPL at a strike rate of 137.13 and taken three wickets. Venkatesh became the second KKR batsman to score a century in the IPL in 2023, 15 years after Brendon McCullum. He was the hero of KKR’s victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final of IPL 2024. While chasing the easy target of 114 runs, he scored unbeaten 52 runs. Iyer was selected for the Indian team after his excellent performance in the IPL. However, Iyer’s 2022 season was not so special.
2. One century-one half-century in Ranji match In this domestic Ranji Trophy season, Iyer has scored one century and one half-century. In the first Ranji match played in October, he scored only 26 runs. After which he was dropped from the MP team for the next match. Was again included in MP team in the third match. In this match, he was out after scoring 4 runs in the first innings and 28 runs in the second innings. After this, he batted brilliantly against Bihar and scored 174 runs in 176 balls. 3. Brilliant batting in Mushtaq Ali Trophy Venkatesh Iyer is currently playing for MP in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Iyer, after being sold for Rs 23.75 crore in the IPL, played an unbeaten inning of 37 runs in just 17 balls while playing for MP on Monday. In this match played against Meghalaya, Iyer has hit 4 sixes. At the same time, Iyer had scored 36 runs on 15 balls against Mizoram in the match played before the auction i.e. on 23 November. Which included 5 fours and 2 sixes.

Iyer is a resident of Tilak Nagar Venkatesh Iyer’s father Ramshekharan Iyer and mother Usha Iyer live in Tilak Nagar area of Indore. Venkatesh’s father works in a private company. Mother is a floor coordinator in the neurology department of a private hospital in Indore. Venkatesh’s father told that his family came to Indore from Chennai in 1988.
