Very embarrassing and completely disappointing: Mandavia criticizes commenting on Rohit

New Delhi:

Sports Minister Mansukh Mandavia targeted Congress spokesperson Shama Mohammad to question Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s captaincy and fitness level, calling it ‘extremely embarrassing’ and ‘completely pathetic’. Shama on Sunday questioned Rohit’s captaincy after Rohit scored 15 off 17 balls during India’s Champions Trophy match against New Zealand.

Mandavia wrote on X, “Congress and TMC should leave the players alone as they are fully capable of handling their professional lives.” He said, “The comments made by the leaders of these parties about the player’s body and the question about the place in the team are not only very embarrassing but also completely pathetic.”

The Sports Minister said, “Such comments underestimate the hard work and sacrifice of our players who do to represent the country on the global stage.”

Shama created a ruckus on social media with his post on ‘X’.

The Congress admitted that they have violated dignity and the party also asked him to delete the post.

Shama now said in his post deleted that Sharma “is fat in terms of being a player.” He also said, “He needs to lose weight!” … and of course India’s most ineffective captain ever. ”

India has reached the semi -finals of the Champions Trophy and will play a semi -finals from Australia in Dubai on Tuesday. He topped his group by defeating New Zealand by 44 runs on Sunday.

Meanwhile, former India fast bowler Venkatesh Prasad also criticized Shama.

Prasad wrote on X, “Rohit has maintained a lot of dignity as captain. He won us in the T20 World Cup eight months ago. In the midst of the ICC tournament, it is absolutely pathetic and unfair to make him a body shaming (negative comment on the body. ”

Prasad said, “There should be some respect for the person who achieved in this achievement through his skills and leadership for so many years.”

BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia criticized Shama and said that while the Indian team is playing the Champions Trophy, it is unfortunate to make such a ‘Ochha’ statement by a responsible person.

Saikia told PTI, “It is very unfortunate that a responsible person is making such a forth statement when the team is playing such an important ICC tournament. This can make the morale of the person or team fall. “He said,” All the players are performing their best and the results are in front. It is expected that people will desist from such petty rhetoric by keeping the national interest on hold to get publicity.
