Their number is said to be more than five hundred. As soon as the evening falls, the villagers reach the torch, shovel, kudali, soil filtering and food and water. After this, the search for gold continues from two to three o’clock in the night. These include men, children and elderly along with men.

Claim to get Mughal coins

Due to the light of the torches, there is a feeling of having a settlement from a distance at night in the fields around the Asirgarh Fort. According to the villagers, many people have found Mughal gold coins, but no one is speaking openly. It is said that some people are even using a metal detector to find gold reserves. In the daylight, only thousands of pits are seen in the fields far and wide. However, no action of police and administration has been revealed in this regard so far.

Excavation started three months ago

  • The process of digging for coins near Asirgarh Fort started about three months ago.
  • Then there was a rumor of getting gold coins in the ongoing excavation on the Indore-Ichhapur National Highway.

  • According to archeology Tourism and Culture Council (DATC) members Shalikram Chaudhary and Qamaruddin Falak, there used to be gold and silver coins near the Asirgarh Fort during the Mughal period.
  • Due to this, large quantities of coins were kept around it. It is said that due to its destruction during the war, the gold reserves were buried in many places.
  • This is what people are getting in excavation now. Shalikram Chaudhary says that there was a mint for about two and a half years.
  • In this, coins were molded from the Mughal period to the Scindia period. Dr. Major Gupta and others also have such coins present with rare items.
  • He has demanded that the administration should find this gold reserves through a metal detector and submit it to the treasury.
