“We are out of control”: Plane loses altitude, hits building in US


New Delhi:

A Cessna 208 passenger plane lost control and crashed in an industrial area near Honolulu Airport in Hawaii, USA. A video of this incident has also gone viral on social media. It is shown in the video that the plane, which was on a training flight, rapidly lost altitude and fell into an empty building. Passenger Preston Kaluhiva and 22-year-old trainee pilot Hiram DeFreeze died in the crash.

According to the report, the plane operated by Kamla Air burst into flames after the crash, after which a huge plume of smoke rose. Honolulu Fire Department, police and the city’s emergency management department arrived at the scene. No other casualties have been reported.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has begun an investigation into the crash. An eyewitness told local media that he “heard a loud crash and saw a plane on fire.”

He said, “I was working and suddenly there was a huge explosion, and I looked outside and there were some clouds of smoke and my coworkers told me that a plane had crashed right next to our building.

“Okay?” the pilot responded, “Kamaka 689, we’re out of control.” “Okay, Kamaka 689, if you can land, if you can level out, it’s OK,” Control “Any runway, any place you can go,” Tower said. The plane crashed a few seconds later.

Newsweek quoted Hawaii Governor Josh Green as saying, “Jamie and my thoughts go out to the pilot and passenger and their families, as well as to all who experienced this tragic event.”

He said, “Services are available to help you understand what you have seen; call 2-1-1, Aloha United Way for assistance.
