Successful testing of third generation indigenous anti-tank missile ‘Nag’

India has successfully tested its third generation indigenous anti-tank guided missile ‘Nag’. Three tests of this missile were conducted in Pokhran Field Range, Rajasthan. In these tests the missile destroyed all its targets with complete accuracy. According to the information given by the Defense Ministry, now this missile is completely ready to join the Indian Army. This missile is based on ‘fire-and-forget’ technology, that is, it does not require re-directing after firing. Its firing range is up to 4 kilometers. Nag missile has been developed by DRDO at a cost of Rs 300 crore. Its first successful test was done in 1990. It was tested in Pokhran firing range in July 2019. Apart from this, separate trials were also conducted in 2017, 2018 and 2019, in which new technology was added every time.

Mission Mausam launched on IMD’s 150th foundation day

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched ‘Mission Mausam’ on January 14 on the occasion of the 150th foundation day of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). Mission Mausam has been launched to make India a climate smart nation. Mission Mausam also symbolizes India’s commitment to a sustainable future and future readiness. PM Modi also released a commemorative coin and vision document ‘Vision 2047’ on the 150th foundation day of IMD.

National Turmeric Board inaugurated

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal inaugurated the National Turmeric Board in New Delhi on January 14. Palle Ganga Reddy has been appointed as the first Chairman of the Board and the headquarters of the National Turmeric Board has been established in Nizamabad. India is the world’s largest producer, consumer and exporter of turmeric. In the financial year 2023-24, India exported 1.62 lakh tonnes of turmeric and turmeric products worth $ 226.5 million.

Jasprit Bumrah won ICC award for the second time

ICC has announced the Player of the Month for December 2024. India’s Jasprit Bumrah and Australia’s Annabel Sutherland have won this title. Bumrah has been chosen ICC Men’s Player of the Month for the second time. He won this award by defeating Pat Cummins and Dan Patterson. He is the second Indian male player to win the Player of the Month award twice. Earlier, Shubman Gill had won this award in January 2023 and September 2023. Bumrah is also the world’s number one bowler in Tests. Sutherland has also received the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award for the second time. She defeated Smriti Mandhana and Nonkululeko Mlaba.

Anju Bobby George appointed chairperson of AFI Athletes Commission

Long jump player Anju Bobby George has been appointed the chairperson of the nine-member Athletes Commission of the Indian Athletics Federation. There are six women and three men in this new panel. The women players included in the panel include sprinter Jyotirmayee Sikdar, discus thrower Krishna Poonia, hurdler MD Valsamma, steeplechaser Sudha Singh and sprinter Sunita Rani, while 2003 World Championship bronze medalist Anju is also the senior vice president at AFI.

Ira Jadhav made a new record in Under-19 ODI

Mumbai’s Ira Jadhav has become the highest run-scorer in the history of Women’s Under-19 ODI Trophy in domestic cricket. In the ODI Trophy played at Alur Cricket Stadium in Bengaluru, Ira played a brilliant inning of 346 unbeaten runs with 42 fours and 16 sixes in 157 balls against Meghalaya. With the help of 14-year-old Ira’s record-breaking innings, Mumbai scored 563 runs for 3 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. With this, Ira has broken the record of Smriti Mandhana, who had scored 224 runs in just 150 balls while playing for Maharashtra against Gujarat in 2013.

Devjit Saikia becomes new secretary of BCCI

Devjit Saikia and Prabhtej Singh Bhatia have been officially elected as BCCI Secretary and Treasurer respectively in the General Meeting (SGM) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Saikia and Prabhtej were the only candidates in the fray for the vacant posts when BCCI election officer and former Chief Election Commissioner of India (CEC) Achal Kumar Joti finalized the list on January 14. Saikia was working as the interim secretary of BCCI after Jay Shah became the chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Novak Djokovic becomes the player to win most Grand Slam matches

Serbia’s Novak Djokovic succeeded in breaking the all-time record of Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer during the first Grand Slam of the year. By winning the match in the Australian Open, Djokovic has become the player to win the most Grand Slam matches in the Open Era. 24-time Grand Slam winner Djokovic defeated 21-year-old Jamie Faria of Portugal in four sets and made it to the next round. This is Djokovic’s 430th win in the Grand Slam. He has gone ahead of Federer’s figure of winning 429 Grand Slam matches. Djokovic is searching for his 11th title in the Australian Open.

Indian women’s cricket team’s highest score in ODI cricket

The Indian women’s cricket team crossed the 400-mark in ODI for the first time in the third ODI being played against Ireland and was successful in making its highest score. Team India touched the 400 mark on the basis of centuries by Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal on the Rajkot ground. India’s previous highest score was 370 runs, which was its highest score in ODI, but in just 72 hours, Team India broke this record and made a new record in its name.

John Dramani Mahama takes over as President of Ghana for the third time

John Dramani Mahama has been appointed President of Ghana, a country facing economic crisis for a long time, for the third time. Opposition leader Mahama, who started his political career as communications minister, won the presidential election late last year. 65-year-old Mahama had previously been the President of Ghana in 2017 and 2012. This time he has replaced the current President Nana Akufo-Addo.
