On Wednesday morning at Prayagraj Mahakumbh, 30 people were killed and 60 others were injured in a stampede incident in the crowd for bathing Mauni Amavasya on Wednesday morning. CM Yogi Adityanath formed a three -member judicial commission to investigate the accident. A day after the stampede incident, the state government has intensified efforts to control the crowd and ensure the safety of the devotees. A large number of devotees continue to come to the fair area on Thursday.
The Uttar Pradesh government has made five main changes after a stampede at Mahakumbh Mela. Mahakumbh Nagar has been declared a no vehicle zone, that is, no vehicle will be allowed to enter. In the Mahakumbh Mela area, all types of vehicles have been tightened and completely converted into a no-vehicle zone.
Main changes after stampede in Mahakumbh
- The VVIP pass in the fair area has been canceled. No special pass vehicles will be allowed inside.
- To make the movement of devotees smooth, unilateral traffic system has been implemented.
- To reduce congestion in the city, vehicles coming from neighboring districts are being stopped on the boundaries of the district.
- To maintain the system, there will be a complete ban on the entry of four wheelers in the city till 4 February.
- Apart from these five changes, IAS officers Ashish Goyal and Bhanu Goswami have been instructed to reach Prayagraj immediately to manage the crowd well in the fair area. Both bureaucrats played an important role in the successful management of the 2019 Ardh Kumbh with Vijay Kiran. During that event, Bhanu Goswami served as District Magistrate and Vice President of Kumbh Mela Authority, while Ashish Goyal was the Commissioner of Prayagraj, who looked after the management.

Judicial Commission visit today
A investigation commission of three members has been formed under the leadership of retired Justice Harsh Kumar. The Commission will visit Prayagraj today i.e. 31 January. The judicial commission has started work within twenty -four hours of the government’s order. The remaining two members of the commission are VK Gupta and DK Singh. Gupta has been the DG Home Guard of UP. Singh is a retired IAS officer. All the three members of the commission reached their office in Lucknow today. Commission Chairman Justice Harsh Kumar said that because the investigation is to be taken on priority basis. Therefore, we have taken charge within a few hours of the announcement. He said that we have a month’s time, but still we will try to complete the investigation fast.
Petition filed in SC in stampede case in Mahakumbh
Mauni is considered to be the biggest festival in Mahakumbh. On this day, devotees also bathe along with the saints of the akhara. The UP government claims that about eight crore people took a bath on that day. A public interest litigation has been filed in the Supreme Court in the case of stampede in Mahakumbh. The petition has demanded a status report on the stampede at Prayagrajamhakumbh and action on the officials responsible for this. Supreme Court lawyer Vishal Tiwari has filed this PIL. In the petition, all the states have demanded the opening of facility centers in the Kumbh Mela area so that non -Hindi speaking people can get the facility.

- Many women fainted due to the crushing of the people and as soon as they fell on the ground, stampede. The injured were immediately sent to a hospital near Mahakumbh Mela area, while some seriously injured women were sent to Bailey Hospital and Swaroop Rani Medical College for treatment.
- The diversion scheme was implemented in Mahakumbh to control the crowd and the entry of devotees was stopped. Groups of devotees were stopped on the outskirts of the city.
