What is the Centre’s ‘Svamitva Yojana’? Under which PM Modi will hand over property card today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hand over lakhs of property cards to property owners through video conferencing today at around 12.30 pm under the Swamitva Yojana. The Prime Minister himself has given this information on social media platform X. These property cards will be helpful in settling mutual disputes.

PM Modi said in his ex-post, “We are committed to ensure that my brothers and sisters in rural areas across the country get the ownership rights of their land under the Swamitva Yojana. In this direction, through video conferencing on Saturday at around 12.30 pm. “Property owners will have the privilege of handing out millions of property cards.”

Land records in digital form

It is noteworthy that under Pradhan Mantri Swamitva Yojana, land records in rural areas are prepared in digital form, due to which people get ownership rights on their land. The objective of this initiative is to reduce land disputes and clarify land ownership, so that farmers can easily get loans. Drone survey, GIS and other state-of-the-art technologies are being used in this scheme, so that land ownership can be clearly marked and disputes between people can be easily ended.

Drone survey completed in 3.17 lakh villages

Through the ownership scheme, a proof of land ownership is provided, which will reduce land related disputes. Clear ownership of land speeds up development work in rural areas and also facilitates farmers in taking loans. This scheme is helping in improving the living standards of the people of rural India. So far, drone survey has been completed in more than 3.17 lakh villages under this scheme, which is 92 percent of the target. Besides, about 2.25 crore property cards have also been prepared for 1.53 lakh villages.

Distribution of more than 65 lakh cards

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will distribute more than 65 lakh property cards under the Swamitva Yojana. According to senior Panchayati Raj Ministry officials, more than 50,000 from 10 states – Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Mizoram, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh – and two union territories – Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The beneficiaries of the villages will receive cards.

What will be the benefit of this scheme?

The Swamitva Yojana has been launched by the Prime Minister to provide ‘Record of Rights’ to the village homeowners by mapping the land plot using drone technology and issuing legal ownership cards to the property owners.

The scheme aims to monetise assets and enable institutional credit through bank loans; reducing property disputes; It also helps in facilitating better assessment of properties and property tax in rural areas and formulation of village-level comprehensive planning.

Program in more than 230 districts

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj said that Chief Ministers of many states, Union Ministers, Ministers of the respective states and Panchayat representatives will participate in it through digital medium. Programs are also being organized in more than 230 districts for physical distribution of property cards.

Around 13 Union ministers from across the country are expected to attend the designated locations to oversee the regional distribution ceremony of property cards, the statement said.
