Voting is going on from 7 am on Wednesday for Delhi Assembly Elections (Delhi Assembly Elections 2025). The voting process is going on in all 70 seats. Extensive security arrangements have been made by the Election Commission. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is hoping for a third consecutive win on the strength of its governance and welfare schemes, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress are expecting return. The entire country is eyeing the New Delhi seat where former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, former MP Sandeep Dixit and former MP Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma are in the fray.

AAP national convenor and candidate from New Delhi Assembly seat Arvind Kejriwal said after voting, “Obviously the work will vote for the people who will do the work.” His wife Sunita Kejriwal said, “The people of Delhi are very intelligent. We are confident in them. They will not tolerate hooliganism. We are confident that the people of Delhi will hold the right elections.
By 9 am, voting was done up to 8.03 percent. According to the Election Commission data, the New Delhi assembly constituency has held 7 percent polling till 9 am. Jungpura has got 7.5 percent votes, 6.2 percent in Kalkaji, 7.90 percent in Okhla, 11.02 percent in Seilampur, 6.49 percent in Matia Mahal, 12.43 percent in Mustafabad, 4.53 percent in Chandni Chowk and 6.97 percent in Ballimran. In 70 seats in Delhi, one crore fifty -six lakh voters of Delhi are deciding the fate of a total of 699 candidates, including independents. In the morning, PM Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, Arvind Kejriwal appealed to cast their votes.
220 companies of paramilitary forces deployed
The Election Commission has deployed 220 companies of paramilitary forces, 35,626 personnel of Delhi Police and 19,000 home guards to ensure smooth voting. Around 3,000 polling stations have been marked as sensitive, where special security arrangements have been made at some places including monitoring of drones. Delhi Police has deployed additional forces at sensitive booths, as well as deployed quick response teams (QRT) to maintain law and order. Special provisions have been made for senior citizens and disabled people.
To simplify the voting process, the Election Commission has introduced the Q Management System (QMS) app, so that voters can investigate the level of crowd in real time. Apart from this, 6,980 out of 7,553 voters eligible from home have already cast their votes.
