Today (January 9) is the birthday of the country’s Foreign Minister Dr. Subramaniam Jaishankar. S. Jaishankar has turned 70 today. The comments made by him while he was the Foreign Minister have been much discussed. Be it terrorism or making China listen or shocking America with his statement. S Jaishankar has always been in the headlines for his statements. Today, on the occasion of his birthday, we are going to share with you some of his famous statements on different subjects.
What did S Jaishankar say on terrorism?
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had said last year that Mumbai is a symbol of anti-terrorism for India and the world. Even when India was a member of the United Nations Security Council, it was chairing the Counter-Terrorism Committee. S Jaishankar had said that we had held the meeting of the Anti-Terrorism Committee in the same hotel where the terrorist attack took place. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had said some time ago that we will expose terrorism and where we have to take action, we will also take action.
People know that India stands strongly against terrorism. Today we are leaders in fighting terrorism. When we talk about zero tolerance for terrorism, it is clear that when someone does something, it will be responded to.

When you surprised even America with your answer
In October last year, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had given a blunt answer to a question asked about India during America’s top think tank ‘Carnegie Endowment for International Peace’. He had said that I have full right to comment but I also have full right to comment on your comment. Don’t feel bad if I do this.
One is the truth and the other is to deal with the truth. The truth is that the world is very globalized. In such a situation, it is not necessary that politics should be done within the national boundaries of the country.

When I told him the truth from the land of Pakistan itself
There was an opportunity to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Foreign Minister S Jaishankar had gone to Pakistan to participate. During the meeting, when it was S Jaishankar’s turn to address, the Foreign Minister without any delay addressed Pakistan and China together. He had said during that time that cooperation should be based on mutual respect and sovereign equality. SCO should try to keep pace with the reforms of global organizations. Efforts should also be made to increase participation in the United Nations Security Council. SCO member countries should fight the three evils resolutely. In the present times this becomes even more important. This requires honest dialogue, trust, good neighborliness and commitment to the SCO charter.
SCO member countries need to understand that terrorism is the biggest challenge for humanity today. It is necessary to end terrorism. No country can imagine development without ending terrorism.
When Aye Jaishankar said bluntly on the question of BRICS
On September 12, 2024, S. Jaishankar participated in the program of the Global Center for Security Policy in Geneva, Switzerland. During this time, the Foreign Minister was asked a question on the need for BRICS. He was asked why BRICS Club was formed and what do you think about its expansion? In response to this question, S Jaishankar had said that honestly speaking, BRICS club was formed because there was already a club named G-7. You did not allow anyone to enter that club. So we said that we will form our own club.
We are good citizens of a good country. Who have their place in the global society. This is how clubs (groups) are formed. This is how it started. Like other clubs, it emerged with time. Others also understood its importance. This is an interesting group.

Message was given to China also through gestures
S Jaishankar has also given many big statements regarding China from time to time. Last year, he had given a clear message to Beijing saying that if relations have to move forward, it will have to establish peace. We have a difficult history with China. There are many agreements between us and China regarding the border. In 2020, China violated the agreement on LAC and we responded.
Unless peace and harmony are established, it will be difficult to move relations forward. India and China relations are the key to the future of Asia. If the world will be multipolar then Asia will also have to be multipolar. This relationship will affect the future of Asia and the world.
S Jaishankar, Foreign Minister
When Canada was told bluntly
Last year, amid deteriorating relations with Canada, S Jaishankar had given a blunt reply to Canada. He had said at that time that Canada has developed a pattern of making allegations without giving information. Indian diplomats are being monitored, which is unacceptable. Extremist forces are being given political space in Canada.
India will take strict action whenever it comes to national interest, integrity and sovereignty. The Canadian government targeted our High Commissioner and diplomats, to which we have given an appropriate response.
