Mayawati and Owaisi’s planning
This time in Delhi elections, not only Congress and BJP but many other parties are also going to increase the tension of Arvind Kejriwal. In Delhi, small political parties like BSP and AIMIM are making a strategy to cut the votes of the three main political parties AAP, BJP and Congress in the upcoming assembly elections, so that their game can be spoiled. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) is planning to contest on all 70 seats, while All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) is fielding candidates on more than 10 Muslim-dominated seats. Both parties have planned rallies of their key leaders – Mayawati (BSP) and Asaduddin Owaisi (AIMIM).
Anna Hazare’s old disciple in the field
Small political parties in the national capital are gearing up to present a tough challenge in the upcoming elections. He is making many promises including solving various issues in Muslim dominated areas, tackling corruption and good governance. One of these is the Indian Liberal Party (BLP), which was recently founded by Munish Kumar Raizada, a US-based doctor, and others associated with the anti-corruption movement led by Anna Hazare. Raizada said that he and Arvind Kejriwal were part of the anti-corruption movement, but now they have decided to give a tough fight to AAP. Raizada, who returned to India about 15 months ago, will contest against AAP chief Kejriwal from New Delhi seat. Former BJP MP Pravesh Verma is also contesting from this seat, while Congress has given ticket to Sandeep Dixit. Raizada told ‘PTI-Bhasha’, “We will do long-term development in Delhi. If BLP comes to power in Delhi, the first thing we will do is constitute Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).”
How many seats will BSP contest?
Bahujan Samaj Party, which is focusing on strengthening its base among Dalit and deprived communities, has decided to contest on all 70 seats and it feels that this will make the path difficult for its rivals. The party is planning to organize rallies of Mayawati in the coming days. BSP central coordinator Nitin Singh said that the party’s focus is on providing better opportunities. Singh said, “Between 2008 and 2012 we had a significant vote share. Our people were misled by Kejriwal with false promises. “In the elections to be held on February 5, we will fight and give a tough fight to get back our vote share.”
What will Owaisi’s party do?
Hyderabad Lok Sabha member Asaduddin Owaisi’s party AIMIM will contest elections on 10-12 seats. The party has so far announced the names of two candidates – Tahir Hussain from Mustafabad and Shafa ur Rehman from Okhla. Both are accused in the 2020 Delhi riots cases. AIMIM’s Delhi unit president Shoaib Jamai told PTI that the party has already fielded two strong candidates, who are leading the protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC). Was the main face of the demonstration. Jamai said the party’s primary focus is on a direct fight with the BJP in Muslim-dominated constituencies. He said, “We are directly challenging the BJP on all the seats we are contesting. Aam Aadmi Party and Congress should understand that their presence is not required on these seats. We will directly contest the BJP.” AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi may hold some rallies in the constituencies where the party has fielded candidates. Jamai said that if AIMIM wins some seats and there is a need to form an alliance, then the party can form an alliance with other parties to stop the BJP.
Doubt among women voters
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress have promised financial assistance schemes for women. BJP can also make a similar announcement. Delhi has 46.2 per cent female voters. According to the final voter list published by the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) office on January 6, there are a total of 1,55,24,858 registered voters in the national capital, of which 83,49,645 are male and 71,73,952 are female. Are women voters.
Women voters in Delhi have had a mixed response to the promise of monthly financial assistance, reflecting diverse needs and preferences. Nisha Verma, a housewife from East Delhi, said, “Rs 2,500 per month may not seem like a lot, but with it I can buy additional books for my children or save a little for emergencies. These schemes are helpful, but I also wonder whether these are just election promises that cannot be fulfilled.
Priya Sharma, a young professional from South Delhi, expressed a different view. “I appreciate the focus on women, but I want plans that create employment opportunities for women or improve public safety,” she said. Monthly cash assistance may provide temporary help, but they do not solve larger problems.
Suddenly a call came from next to 24 Akbar Road and… will Congress not contest Delhi elections strongly now?
Geeta Devi, a senior citizen from Rohini, stressed the importance of such schemes for financial independence. “For women like me who have no source of income, these schemes may provide some financial independence, but I hope the government will include other benefits like subsidized food to finance these payments,” she said. Will not make the cut.
