Prime Minister Narendra Modi has participated in a podcast for the first time. He did a podcast with Nikhil Kamat, co-founder of Zerodha. Kamath has released its trailer on YouTube on 9 January. The full video of the podcast was released on this platform on Friday. In his podcast debut, PM Modi gave his opinion on the unrest spread in the world, the ongoing war between Russia-Ukraine and Palestine-Israel, Digital India, One India Mission. He has also talked about his childhood, political life, importance of ideology and idealism and participation of youth in politics. Modi said that for youth to enter politics, there should not be an ambition but a mission. PM Modi admitted that he too makes mistakes in many matters. Modi says, “I am also a human being, not a god. That’s why I also make mistakes.”
Zerodha provides trading and brokerage services for those investing in stocks. In this, at the beginning of the podcast interview, Nikhil Kamath says – “I am sitting here in front of you and talking. I am nervous. This is a difficult conversation for me….” After this, PM Modi speaks. He said, “This is my first podcast. I don’t know how it will resonate with your audience.” Modi says, “I hope you all enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it for you.”
Did you want to fulfill this wish as soon as you became CM?
In the podcast, PM Modi recalled his speech as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, in which he had said that he would never do anything with bad intentions. Modi said, “I left home in a very short time in my childhood. I left everything. After that I had no contact with anyone, no connection with anyone. When I became the Chief Minister, a desire arose.”
Don’t do anything with wrong intentions…this is the mantra of my life.
PM Modi said, “As soon as I became CM, I gave a speech in which I said that I will not step back from hard work. I will not do anything for myself. I am a human being who can make mistakes, but I will keep working. Anytime “I will never do anything with bad intentions…this is the mantra of my life.”
Open talk on Godhra riots
In his first podcast interview, PM Modi has spoken openly on the Godhra riots that took place in Gujarat in February 2002. He said, “Not even 3 days had passed since I became MLA. Meanwhile, riots took place in Godhra. As soon as I got the news of the riots, I decided to go to Godhra. I saw the truth of Godhra with my own eyes. The pictures of Godhra were very painful. I was told the train was on fire.”
Modi said, “I had a sense of responsibility. I became an MLA for the first time on 24 February 2002. I went to the Assembly for the first time on 27 February. Not even three days had passed since I became an MLA when suddenly the Godhra incident happened. At that time I was in the Assembly. As soon as we left, I said that we will take a helicopter from there and then there is a single engine helicopter. I was told that I am not a VIP and if anything happens, I will take responsibility. Will happen.”
Difference between first and second term?
Nikhil Kamath questions the PM regarding the difference between the first and second terms as Prime Minister. In response to this, the PM said – “In the first term, people used to try to understand me also. I was also trying to understand Delhi. Now people have also understood me and I have also understood them.”
India favors peaceful talks
PM Modi expressed concern about the increasing wars in the world. He said, “We have consistently said that we (India) are not neutral. I am in favor of peace. India has always been in favor of resolving disputes through peaceful dialogue.”
Shared the story of an interesting conversation with Jinping
The Prime Minister mentioned an interesting conversation he had with Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2014. When Modi became Prime Minister, Xi Jinping expressed his desire to visit India. He said, “I want to come to Gujarat and your village Vadnagar.” Explaining the reason behind this, Xi Jinping said that Chinese philosopher Hiuen Tsang resided in Vadnagar for the longest time and when he returned to China, he stayed in Xi Jinping’s village.

How was Modi in studies in childhood?
In the podcast interview, PM Modi also remembered his school days. He told that he was a normal student in his childhood. Was normal in studies. There was nothing in him that anyone would notice. Modi says, “Of course, I was a normal boy, but the teachers loved me very much. I was normal in studies. If I had to study more. PM Modi remembered one of his teachers. He said, “One of my teachers was Rash Bihari Maniyal. He used to write letters to me. He used to call me ‘Tu’.”
Learned Hindi while selling tea
How did you learn such good Hindi? In response, PM Modi said, “I learned this language while selling tea at a railway station in Mehsana, Gujarat.” Modi told Nikhil Kamath that many dairy farmers from Uttar Pradesh often visit this area for business. The PM said, “Around 30-40 of them were always present on the railway platform where I used to sell tea. While talking to them, I gradually learned Hindi.”
