America’s newly elected President Donald Trump has decided to appoint Indian-American capitalist Shriram Krishnan as Senior Policy Advisor on Artificial Intelligence (AI). Krishnan has previously led product teams at Microsoft, Twitter, Yahoo, Facebook and Snap and is a member of the David O. Will work with Sachs. Trump has announced to appoint David as ‘White House AI and Crypto Czar’.
Who is Sriram Krishnan?
- Krishnan, a technology industry veteran who has worked in leading companies like Microsoft, Twitter, Yahoo, Facebook and Snap, David O. Will work closely with Sachs, who has been named the White House AI and Crypto Czar.
- Krishnan has a good relationship with billionaire Elon Musk, having collaborated with him to revive ‘X’ after Musk acquired the company in 2022.
- Krishnan was appointed general partner at Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) in February 2021.
- In 2023, Sriram Krishnan was selected to lead the firm’s London office, its first location outside the United States. He left the company at the end of November.
- Earlier, Krishnan championed a new, technology-based approach to end conflicts between major internet platforms and AI-powered models like OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
What responsibility does Shriram Krishnan have?
Donald Trump announced several AI-related appointments on Sunday. Donald Trump said, ‘Shriram Krishnan will work as a senior policy advisor on AI in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy’. Along with David, Shriram will focus on ensuring America’s dominance in the field of AI. He will also help shape and coordinate AI policy by working with the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.
Indian-origin Krishnan expressed his happiness over being nominated for this post, saying, ‘I feel honored for the opportunity to serve my country and to work with David to maintain America’s dominance in the field of AI. I am doing it.
