New Delhi:
India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri held a high-level meeting with Taliban Foreign Minister Aamir Khan Muttaki in Dubai on Wednesday. This was the first officially sanctioned meeting between an Indian Foreign Secretary and a senior Taliban official. Afghanistan has described India as its important regional partner. This meeting has taken place at a time when relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan are going through a very tense period.
This is the first time such an important meeting has taken place after the formation of the Taliban government in Afghanistan in August 2021. India has not recognized the Taliban government, but maintains relations with the Taliban government. In such a situation, the question is arising that why is India going to a third country and talking to Taliban? What is the significance of India’s talks with Taliban after the ongoing conflict in Pakistan and Afghanistan?
What was the agenda of the meeting?
The agenda of this meeting was quite big. Two-way diplomatic relations, humanitarian aid, mutual trade, sports and cultural relations, business, trade, sports, cultural relations, regional security were discussed in the meeting. In this meeting, the issue of promoting bilateral trade between the two countries in different areas including Chabahar Port of Iran was also discussed.

Afghan minister expressed gratitude
Meanwhile, the Afghan minister thanked India for helping in the time of crisis. Whereas from the Indian side it was said that it is ready to meet the development related needs of the Afghan people in the coming times also.
Foreign Secretary laid emphasis on cultural relations
Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri emphasized that India attaches great importance to its historical and cultural ties with Afghanistan. Both the countries also agreed to strengthen their sports relations. Especially cricket, which is very much liked in both the countries.
How are the relations between India and Afghanistan?
-The cultural and historical relations between India and Afghanistan have always been strong.
-India has invested about 3 billion US dollars in many projects of Afghanistan.
-India has formed the new parliament of Afghanistan.
-Many dams and roads have also been constructed.
-India is associated with the construction of Iran’s Chabahar Port.
Maldives President Muizzoo decided to start India’s UPI service in his country.
How important is Chabahar Port for India?
-This port is also very important for the trade relations between India and Afghanistan, because it gives an alternative route to reach Afghanistan by bypassing Pakistan. With this, India will not have to look towards its neighbor Pakistan for business with Afghanistan and some other countries.
-India was exempted from US sanctions for the use of Chabahar Port, but now before Trump’s arrival, the sword of sanctions is hanging again.

China will also get answers
China is also constantly keeping an eye on Afghanistan. Since the arrival of Taliban, it has emerged as Afghanistan’s biggest ally. China is one of the first countries to appoint its ambassador to Kabul. China has its eyes on the natural resources of Afghanistan. That is why he has invested heavily in many projects there. In such a situation, India’s presence there is very important in view of the increasing Chinese activities in Afghanistan.
How did Pakistan become an enemy of Taliban’s friend?
Actually, relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan have been going through a tense phase for the last few years. Pakistan says that many terrorist attacks in its country have been carried out from Afghan soil. He is especially accusing Kabul of giving shelter to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Whereas Afghanistan has been rejecting all the allegations of Islamabad. Now the meeting between Taliban and India is bound to irritate the neighboring country.
India had condemned Pakistan’s attacks on Afghanistan
By the way, this is the second time when there has been an indication of the closeness between India and Taliban. Earlier this week, New Delhi had condemned Pakistan’s recent air strike on Afghanistan. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal had said on Monday, “We have taken note of media reports of air strikes on Afghan civilians, including women and children, resulting in the loss of many lives. We unequivocally condemn any attack on innocent civilians.” It is Pakistan’s old habit to blame its neighbors for its internal failures.
Maldives also knelt down
At the same time, why does Maldives seem to be bowing down after the long-running tension with India? After the India Out campaign, Indian celebrities boycotted Maldives. After which this country has suffered a major economic shock. In such a situation, this country is on the backfoot. Now why are President Mohammad Muizzu and his ministers extending the hand of friendship towards India? First, Maldives Foreign Minister Abdulla Khalil visited India and asked for help. Now the Defense Minister there has come to India.
Maldives Defense Minister Mohammed Ghassan Maumoon is in India from Wednesday (January 8) to January 10. On Wednesday he met with Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. During this, Mohammad Ghassan Maumoon has appealed to Rajnath Singh for cooperation in the Indian Ocean. China has also suffered a major blow due to the increasing proximity of Maldives and India. Now it remains to be seen what move China makes on India’s growing relationship with Taliban and Maldives.
