Why does inflammation occur with psoriasis? (Why Psoriasis causes Swelling)

Psoriasis (Psoriasis and swelling) The reason for inflammation is our immune system working differently. Actually, in such a situation our immune system is unable to recognize our skin cells and starts attacking. Due to this attack, the size of skin cells starts increasing and as a result, swelling starts increasing. Due to this reason the skin also itches.
The reason for swelling is that when the immune system does not do its job properly, it damages other parts too, like the heart, which also affects our blood pressure. Because of this, our skin does not get proper oxygen and nutrients. Skin swelling and infection also occur due to this.

How to control chronic inflammation? (How to control swelling during Psoriasis)

1. Maintain a proper skincare routine

Skin care is very important in psoriasis. Keep the skin soft and supple. For example – Psoriasis patients should constantly moisturize their skin. This maintains moisture in the skin and reduces swelling. Apart from this, they should avoid bathing with hot water as it can further dry their skin which can give rise to many problems.

Include fruits and vegetables in your diet which are rich in antioxidants so that your skin can remain healthy. Apart from this, include things like fish, walnuts or almonds which contain Omega 3 fatty acids in your diet. Keep in mind that fiber also helps us in keeping the immune system strong. Therefore, make whole grains, which are rich in fiber, a part of your snacks or meals.

Regular exercise improves the blood circulation of the body. Due to good blood circulation, oxygen and nutrients reach the skin in sufficient quantity through blood, which keeps our skin healthy. It reduces swelling and controls swelling. Apart from this, regular exercise also controls your stress level, this also weakens psoriasis. If you are finding yourself weak in exercising, then make yoga or meditation a part of your daily routine.

4. See a doctor

Steroid creams help reduce inflammation and cool your skin. Therefore, you can use them on doctor’s advice. Apart from this, the doctor can give you such medicines which help your immune system to function properly.
