Sri Lankan President India Visit: Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is on a visit to India. Dissanayake was formally welcomed in the courtyard of Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Monday, the second day of the state visit. President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

President Dissanayake inspected the Guard of Honor by the Combined Defense Services. On this occasion, President Draupadi Murmu and Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake introduced each other to their respective ministers, diplomats and officials.

Dissanayake’s visit to India

The Sri Lankan President is on a state visit to India from 15 December to 17 December. This is Dissanayake’s first bilateral visit to India after assuming office in September. Earlier on Sunday, Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting L Murugan had welcomed the Sri Lankan President in Delhi. President Dissanayake has also met Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.

In a post on X, President Dissanayake said, “During my official visit to India, I had the privilege of engaging in meaningful discussions with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. Our Conversation India -Sri Lanka was focused on strengthening economic cooperation, enhancing investment opportunities, promoting regional security and advancing key sectors such as tourism and energy. These agreements reaffirm the commitment to deepen the partnership between our two countries. “

  • President Dissanayaka’s visit to India is expected to further strengthen multidimensional and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
