After the news came out, Ulfa (I) issued a statement. It states that this program is an attack on the culture, heritage and pride of the original residents. The organization has said, “We will not tolerate the celebration of Bihar Day by outsiders.”

ULFA (I) is not the only organization opposing Bihar Day organizing in Tinsukia. Apart from this, All Assam Students Union, Akhil Gogoi’s Raizor Dal and Assam Ethnic Council (AJP) have also opposed the organizing of Bihar Day. AJP leader Lurnijyoti Gogoi said, “Ever since the BJP came to power, it is constantly trying to impose the language and culture of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh on Assam. It is part of the BJP-RSS’s agenda of ‘one nation, one language, one religion’. For this, the government is working to expand Hindi language and culture and weaken the Assamia language and traditions.”

At the same time, Akhil Gogoi, leader of Raizor Dal and MLA from Sivasagar, said that there is no reason to celebrate Bihar Day in Assam. Assam Day is not celebrated in Bihar, that too in the districts. “He called it an attempt to get the votes of Hindi speaking population in the next year’s Assam assembly elections.

At the same time, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has criticized those who opposed Bihar Day. He says that he is putting the welfare of Assamese youth working in different parts of the country. He asked that if the message from Assam goes that we are against Biharis, against the Marwaris, against the Gujaratis, against the Tamils, then how will the youth of Assam get employment outside the state? ”He said that December 2 is also celebrated across the country, Assam Day is also celebrated across the country.
