Some local BJP leaders in Tinsukia, East Assam want to celebrate Bihar Day on 22 March. Some organizations there are opposing this. The banned organization ULFA (I) is also among those who opposed the Bihar Day program. He has warned of its serious consequences. He has described it as an attack on the culture and heritage of Assam. Apart from ULFA (I), some small organizations have also opposed this event. This protest has been criticized by Assam Chief Minister Hemant Vishwa Sarma. He says that in this way the welfare of the Assams is being endangered.

Actually, the population of people of Bihari origin in Tinsukia, East Assam is fine. Some local BJP leaders there want to organize a program on Bihar Day on 22 March. After the news came out, Ulfa (I) issued a statement. It states that this program is an attack on the culture, heritage and pride of the original residents. The organization has said, “We will not tolerate the celebration of Bihar Day by outsiders.”

AJP leader Lurnijyoti Gogoi said, “Ever since the BJP came to power, it is constantly trying to impose the language and culture of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh on Assam. It is part of the BJP-RSS’s agenda of ‘one nation, one language, one religion’. For this, the government is working to expand Hindi language and culture and weaken the Assamia language and traditions.”

He asked that if the message from Assam goes that we are against Biharis, against the Marwaris, against the Gujaratis, against the Tamils, then how will the youth of Assam get employment outside the state? ”He said that December 2 is also celebrated across the country, Assam Day is also celebrated across the country.
