New Delhi:
In the last few days, the minority community and especially the Hindu community is being targeted again in Bangladesh. While earlier the ISKCON temple was closed, now the bank accounts of 17 people associated with ISKCON have been frozen for 30 days. This information has come to light from different media reports. The special thing is that among the accounts which have been ordered to be frozen, the account of former ISKCON member Chinmoy Krishna Das is also included. This action has been taken after the Bangladesh High Court rejected the petition demanding a ban on the International Krishna Chenta Society (ISKCON).
Let us tell you that according to the newspaper Prothom Alo, Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) on Thursday sent these instructions to various banks and financial institutions, in which all types of transactions related to these accounts were suspended for one month. The financial intelligence agency under the Central Bangladesh Bank asked banks and financial institutions to send information including updated transaction details of accounts related to all businesses owned by these 17 individuals within the next three working days.
Temples were vandalized
On Friday, a slogan-shouting mob vandalized three Hindu temples in Chattogram, Bangladesh. Protests continue in Chattogram after a treason case was registered against a former ISKCON member. News portal ‘bdnews24.com’ had said in its news that the attack took place at around 2:30 pm in Harish Chandra Munsef Lane of the port city and during this, Shantaneshwari Matri Temple, Shani Mandir and Shantaneshwari Kalibari Temple were targeted.
The news portal quoted temple officials as saying that a group of hundreds of people shouting slogans threw bricks and stones at the temples, due to which the gates of Shani temple and two other temples were damaged. Kotwali police station chief Abdul Karim confirmed the attack and said that the attackers tried to damage the temples. Police said that there was very little damage to the temples.
Where did the matter start
Sanatan Jagran Jot spokesperson Chinmoy Krishna Das has been charged with treason by Bangladeshi authorities for allegedly insulting the country’s flag by hoisting the saffron flag in Chittagong last month. Das was produced in a Chittagong court on Tuesday and later sent to jail after Bangladeshi Hindus took to the streets in the country. At the same time, violence broke out in the court building, resulting in the death of 32-year-old advocate Saiful Islam Alif. Hardliners in Bangladesh are now blaming Das’s supporters for the advocate’s death, while ISKCON and other Hindu organizations have made it clear that no Hindu was involved in the disturbance that day in the court complex.
