This debate is taking place regarding not allowing Lauren to touch the Shiva Linga in Kashi Vishwanath Temple. It is being told that when Lauren was inside the Kashi Vishwanath temple, she was stopped from touching the Shivalinga there.

Acharya Kailash Nandgiri Maharaj of Niranjani Akhara said that Steve Jobs’s wife had darshan of Mahadev in Kashi Vishwanath along with us. As per the rules, they have not been allowed to touch the Shivalinga because according to Indian tradition, people of non-Hindu religion are not allowed to touch the Shivalinga. He was given darshan from outside only. Our tradition is paramount. It is the responsibility of Acharya and Shankaracharya to carry out our tradition. She came with us, she is our daughter. She came and bowed her head before Mahadev. She is understanding our tradition. She will also be present in Kumbh.

‘Will take a dip in the Ganga’
Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Kailashanand Giri Maharaj of Niranjani Akhara said, “Today we have come to Kashi to pray to Mahadev. We worshiped to ensure that the Kumbh is completed without any hindrance. I have come here to invite Mahadev.” Maharaj further said that Laurene Powell Jobs followed the temple traditions and she would also take a dip in the Ganga. He said, “According to our Indian tradition, no other Hindu can touch the Shivalinga in Kashi Vishwanath. So she was given darshan of the Shivalinga from outside. She will also be present in the Kumbh and will take a dip in the Ganga,” he said.
