After this, there was a strong reaction regarding this in India. Now the Standing Committee on IT Affairs of Parliament is going to take action in this matter.

Nishikant Dubey, head of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Communications and IT Affairs, has announced to summon Meta in this matter on Tuesday (January 14, 2025). He has given this information on X (earlier Twitter). Nishikant Dubey said, “My committee will call Meta for wrong information. Misinformation tarnishes the image of any democratic country. That organization will have to apologize to the Indian Parliament and the people for this mistake.”

This announcement came in response to the country’s Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav’s statement on Mark Zuckerberg’s statement. after Gave. Ashwini Vaishnav said on this matter, “As the world’s largest democracy, India conducted elections in the 2024 elections with more than 64 crore voters. The people of India reaffirmed their faith in the NDA led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Zuckerberg’s claim that most of the current governments, including India, were defeated in the 2024 elections post-Covid is factually incorrect.”

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that it is very disappointing to see the head of Meta giving wrong information. It is noteworthy that Meta Chief Zuckerberg recently went to a podcast named Joe Rogan. This podcast of his was released on January 10, 2025. During this podcast itself, he talked about issues like content moderation, trust in government, COVID-19, algorithms, government influence. Meanwhile, he claimed that after the Covid epidemic, the governments of many countries went bankrupt and gave the example of India in this regard.

Meta also did not give any clarification in this matter later. Nor did Meta apologize for its CEO’s statement. Now Meta has been summoned by the parliamentary committee in India.
