Wheel made 5500 years ago changed history
Transportation is a very important part of our life. Today we are reaching the moon and space only through transportation. Humans had established a relationship with it 5 thousand years ago. In earlier times, people used to cover distances of several kilometers by walking with their feet. After that horses started being used but there was a revolution in the field of transport after the invention of the wheel. The wheel was created about 5,500 years ago. Historian Amarjeev Lochan believes that it was made in Mesopotamia (which is now called Iraq). The people there made a round disc-like wheel from wood. Before this it was used only for making earthen pots. Gradually people started tying the wheel to animals for their household works. This is how the bullock cart was made.
Transportation started on water!
It is believed that water transport service started for the first time in the world. It is called ferry. This is a kind of water taxi or water bus. There is also mention of ferry in Greek mythology. Through this, people were taken from one bank of the river to the other. Even in ancient Egypt, ferries ran on the canals. In the 5th century, China also built canals and started running ferries on them.

Public transport started in Paris
The first modern public transport in the world started in Paris in 1662. It was started by French scientist, mathematician and philosopher Blaise Pascal. It was named Carrosses a cinq sols. It was a bullock cart in which 8 people could sit at a time. This service used to run at an interval of 7 and a half minutes. This service lasted only for 15 years. At the same time, the first public bus was started in London in 1829.
Sedan and Buggy in India
In the initial period, transport in India was used only by the people of the royal family. Queens used to travel in palanquin and kings in carriages. Bullock cart was the only public transport for the common people and in rural areas. For the first time in India, a public bus ran in Mumbai on 15 July 1926. It was started by Bombay Electric Supply and Transport i.e. BEST. At that time the fare of this bus was 4 annas. Seeing the crowd of people, double decker bus was started in 1937.
Train saves time
The world’s first train steam engine was built by British engineer Richard Trevithick in 1804. First the train was used to carry goods but on 27 September 1825, the first passenger train started in England. In this, 450 passengers could travel simultaneously at a speed of 24 kilometers per hour. The first passenger train in India ran from Mumbai to Thane on 16 April 1853. This was a steam engine train which covered the distance in 34 hours. Thomas Alva Edison, the inventor of the electric bulb, tested an electric train in 1880.
