If all the Pantoon Bridges were running, the devotees could easily go from one place to another and the crowd would have gone out of the fair. Those who slept were mostly crushed in the stampede.
SSP Rajesh Dwivedi was the important responsibility of not allowing the crowd to increase in Sangam Noz area. Apart from this, arrangements for bathing the sadhus during the Amrit bath on Mauni Amavasya were also responsible for them. There have been two reasons for the stampede that occurred late on 28 January.
