The CBI court of Chandigarh will sentence 8 police officers to the CBI court for the murder of the accused in the police custody in the famous doll rape case of Himachal Pradesh. On January 18, the court convicted 8 officials including the state’s IG Zahoor H Zaidi.

Murdered after 16 years of rape, police detained 2 youths On July 4, 2017 in Kotkhai in Shimla district, a 16 -year -old student (doll fictional name) went missing while returning from school. On July 6, the body of the student was found naked in the Tandi forest of Kotkhai. Police found that the student was murdered after rape.

IG Zaidi suspended again after restoration In 2017, the case was transferred from the district court of Shimla to Chandigarh CBI court. The Himachal government then suspended the accused police officer IG Zaidi, SP DW Negi and DSP Manoj Joshi after arrest in August 2017. After about 2 years 2 months, in November 2019, the government restored them on the basis of rules.
Zahoor Zaidi is a 1994 batch IPS officer. Zaidi stayed in Kanda Jail in Shimla for 582 days. In April 2019, the Supreme Court granted him bail. Even after bail, the trial against him continued. In January 2020, the then BJP government again suspended him.
He was accused of influencing the witness. After 3 years of suspension, the Congress government restored their services in January 2023. In September 2023, he was re -deployed at the headquarters.
