The National Scholarship (NSPGS) scheme was started by the Ministry of Education, Government of India to help the meritorious students of the economically weak background. Its main objective is to encourage higher education by providing financial assistance to students receiving their first postgraduate degree in India.

1,50,000 rupees per year for selected candidates for 2 years

Under the NSPGS scheme, a total of 10,000 scholarships are provided annually, in which similar slots are allocated for students of science and humanities. Selected candidates will get financial assistance of Rs 1,50,000 per year for 2 years.

Eligibility Criteria for UGC Scholarship

The national scholarship for postgraduate studies is’ for students who enroll in regular, full -time courses to complete their first postgraduate degree. Students who already have PG degree cannot apply for this scholarship. According to UGC rules, if a student is doing integrated course, then he will only get scholarship for postgraduate (PG) part of his course. To apply under the NSPGS scheme, the age of the candidates should be less than 30 years at the time of admission.
