India vs Australia Test Series, Nitish Kumar Reddy: The first match of the five-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy series between India and Australia was played in Perth, in which the Indian team registered a historic victory of 295 runs. In the Perth Test, India was able to score only 150 runs in the first innings and Nitish Reddy had an important contribution in this, who took India to a respectable score by playing an inning of 41 runs. If we believe Nitish Reddy, he was not “serious” about cricket in his early days. But everything changed for him when he saw tears in his father’s eyes due to financial struggles.
This was a turning point for the young all-rounder. After this he took cricket seriously. He vowed to work hard and achieve success in the game, which culminated in a brilliant debut for India in the first Test against Australia in Perth. Reddy scored 41 runs in the first innings and 38 runs in the second innings against lethal bowlers like Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood at the Optus Stadium. He also took one wicket in the match.
BCCI shared a video of Nitish Reddy on Thursday. In this video, Nitish said, “To be honest, when I was young, I was not serious.” Nitish Reddy further said, “My father left his job for me and there is a lot of sacrifice behind my story. One day, I saw him crying because of the financial problems we were facing, and I thought, You can’t be like this… that my father made sacrifices and you play cricket just for fun.”

The 21-year-old player has been retained in the Indian playing eleven for the pink-ball Test between India and Australia at the Adelaide Oval. After Perth, he scored 42 runs in 32 balls in a day-night practice match against Prime Minister’s XI in Canberra. In the second innings in Perth, Reddy had an unbroken partnership of 77 runs with his hero Virat Kohli. Let us tell you, it was Virat Kohli who handed over the cap to Nitish in his debut test. In this way the childhood dream was fulfilled.
