Ambedkar’s statue vandalized in Amritsar on Republic Day, Delhi’s politics heated up due to incident in Punjab

A case of damage to the statue of BR Ambedkar has come to light in the Town Hall on Heritage Street leading to the Golden Temple in Amritsar, Punjab. Police have arrested one person in this case. This incident happened on Sunday when the country was celebrating Republic Day. This incident, which happened just before the assembly elections in Delhi, has heated up the politics. Political parties have condemned this incident. The incident of demolition of Ambedkar statue in Punjab heated up the politics of Delhi. The echo of the incident in Punjab is being heard in the Delhi Assembly elections.

Punjab Police took action

Police said that Amritsar Police Commissionerate has arrested the accused after registering an FIR. Police is taking further action in this matter. An alleged video of the incident is viral on social media. In this video, a person can be seen climbing the statue using a long steel ladder and carrying a hammer and attacking the statue with the hammer. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday condemned the alleged attempt to damage Ambedkar’s statue in Amritsar and said strict action would be taken in the matter.

Politics has intensified over this incident that happened during Delhi elections. Delhi BJP wrote on social media site How can the welfare of Dalit society be expected from a government which cannot respect Baba Saheb Ambedkar? Mayawati said attack on Aam Aadmi Party

Bahujan Samaj Party chief and former Chief Minister of UP Mayawati has also condemned this incident. He wrote on Twitter, “The entire country was celebrating the 76th Republic Day yesterday on the historic day of implementation of Baba Saheb’s Constitution. In such a situation, disrespecting the statue of the creator of the Constitution Bharat Ratna Dr. Ambedkar is a matter of great shame, especially for the Aam Aadmi Party and its government. Referring to the Delhi Assembly elections, the BSP chief said that the voters of Delhi, especially AAP, Congress, And taking a lesson from the double standards of BJP, vote only for Ambedkarite party BSP and strengthen it.

Delhi Congress has written from its X handle, “Yesterday, on Republic Day, an attempt was made to damage the statue of Constitution maker Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar at Heritage Chowk in Amritsar, which is highly condemnable.” People’s sentiments have been hurt by this. This incident raises questions on the Aam Aadmi Party government and law and order in Punjab.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann gave instructions for action

After the incident came to light, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday condemned the incident that took place on Sunday. He said that strict action will be taken in this matter. Mann wrote on X that the incident is extremely condemnable and no one will be forgiven. Mann said, “Whoever is responsible for this incident will be given severe punishment.” No one will be allowed to disrupt the brotherhood and unity of Punjab. He said that the administration has been directed to investigate the incident and take strict action against the culprits.
