There was a time in his life when he had prepared to say goodbye to cricket. His parents had decided to send him to Canada and settle there.

When Arshdeep Singh reached Chandigarh Airport after winning the final of T-20 Cricket World Cup, he was given a warm welcome.

The family had made preparations to send him to Canada

Arshdeep Singh was not being selected in the Punjab team. Family members were also worried. In such a situation, the parents decided to send him to his brother in Canada. He talked to his coach about this. When the coach discussed this with Arshdeep, he said that he wants to play.

On the advice of the coach, Arshdeep told this to his family. The family members gave him one year’s time. After this Arshdeep worked hard on the ground. Then he was selected in the age group 19 team of Punjab. After this he played the Under-19 World Cup. After this the journey continued continuously.

Father recognized skill, mother used strength

Arshdeep Singh’s family is living in Kharar, Mohali. His father Darshan Singh works in a private company. When Arshdeep was born, his father was posted in Madhya Pradesh. He is also a bowler. His father recognized his passion for cricket. He saw them bowling in the park. Then at the age of 13, he took him to the cricket academy of Guru Nanak Dev School, Sector 36, Chandigarh. From where his coaching started.

Arshdeep’s father was posted outside. In such a situation, it was not easy to reach Chandigarh ground from Kharar at six in the morning, because it was a journey of 15 kilometers. In such a situation, Arshdeep Singh’s mother Baljeet Kaur used to bring him on bicycle in the morning. Then she used to stay there. After school, she used to make them sit in the park and feed them food etc. After this she was again sent to the academy. After this she would take me home in the evening. He had to struggle a lot in the initial days.

Played for Punjab in 2018, debuted in IPL in 2019

Arshdeep Singh was selected to play for Punjab in the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy on 19 September 2018. He was then selected in India’s squad for the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. In December 2018, he was selected by Kings XI Punjab for the 2019 Indian Premier League.

He was the second highest wicket taker of the team. He was praised for his good performance. In November 2019, he was selected in India’s squad for the 2019 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup in Bangladesh.

At the age of 13, Arshdeep Singh started going to cricket academy.

Very strong mentally, has faith in God

Arshdeep has religious views. They keep meditating. Those who know him say that the fast bowler has aggression. But they don’t show it. They remain very calm. Whenever they come to the city, everyone goes to the Gurudwaras to pay obeisance. They are very strong mentally. His coach Jaswant Rai tells that when he was trolled for dropping a catch in the match against Pakistan, he called Arshdeep and advised him not to look at social media today.

To this Arshdeep replied that he was watching it since morning. He is liking what people are saying. He asked why he looked sad. On this, Arshdeep said that in the match against Pakistan, he hit a four and if he had stopped it, we would have won the match. That’s why they are sad.
