During the hearing of this case, US District Judge Phyllis Hamilton, while ruling in favor of WhatsApp, found NSO Group guilty of violating state and federal hacking laws. The court has also admitted that NSO Group has violated WhatsApp’s terms of service and the American Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. This decision of the court has dealt a big blow to this software making company and its owner.
What did the court say?
Let us tell you that while giving his verdict in this case, Judge Hamilton said that NSO Group has obstructed the legal process. This is also because it has not given the source code of the spiceware to WhatsApp. Whereas the court had asked him to give this code by the beginning of 2024. We have learned that even after the court order, the company did not provide the code here and instead made the code available only in Israel and limited its review to Israeli citizens only. According to us this is completely impractical.
