Mohsin Naqvi Statement on Champions Trophy 2025: There is confusion regarding the Indian team not going to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy and the ongoing political violence in Pakistan. ICC is going to hold a virtual meeting regarding the Champions Trophy on Thursday. Before this meeting, a report has claimed that in view of the anti-government protests in Pakistan, the boards of many countries have expressed concern about security and in such a situation, the rights to host the Champions Trophy may be snatched away from Pakistan.
Earlier ahead of the ICC meeting, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has insisted that the board is “clear” in its view about hosting the Champions Trophy, adding that “it is not possible that Pakistan play in India and they Don’t come here”.
During a press conference held at Gaddafi Stadium, Naqvi said, “Our stand is very clear. I promise that we will do what is best for Pakistan cricket. I am in constant touch with the ICC Chairman and my team is constantly in touch with him.” We are still clear in our stand that it is not acceptable for them to play cricket here, it will be on the basis of equality. given, and Whatever happens next, we will let you know.”
The Champions Trophy is to be organized at three places in Pakistan in February and March next year. But India, which has not toured Pakistan since 2008, told the ICC that their government had not given them permission to travel to Pakistan for the event earlier this month.
Naqvi said several times, “Whatever we do, we will ensure that the best outcome is achieved for Pakistan. But I repeat, and I am sure you know what I mean, it is not possible that Pakistan Play in India, and they don’t come here.”
Naqvi further said that any decision taken in the ICC meeting will be taken to the Pakistan government by the PCB for final approval. He also urged Jay Shah, who is leaving his post as BCCI secretary to take over as ICC president on Sunday, to show concern for the ICC’s benefit in handling the organisation.
Naqvi said, “(Jay Shah) will take charge in December and I am sure when he moves from BCCI to ICC, he will think about the benefit of ICC and that is what he should do. Whenever someone takes over such a role, he should One should think only about the interests of that organization.”
