Ludhiana Police has filed a charge sheet in the court against Union Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu, former Cabinet Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu and former MLA Sanjay Talwad. The case is related to the uproar in the Zone-A office of the corporation on 27 February 2024.

The charge sheet has been filed in the absence of the accused. After this, Judicial Magistrate Jugraj Singh has issued a notice to all the accused for March 17 and ordered to appear in the court.

Form on the complaint of the watchman

In this case, it has been registered on the complaint of Amit Kumar, the watchman of the Corporation Zone-A office. The FIR features allegations under Section 186 (obstructing the work of public servant) and 353 (use of criminal forces to prevent the public servant from duty or criminal force). According to the prosecution, on 27 February 2024, MP Ravneet Singh Bittu, along with Congress leaders and workers, staged a protest in the Zone-A office.

During the Protest, Congress leaders had a clash with the police. The leaders had locked the office gate. Later the corporation personnel broke the lock from inside. When the police produced Bittu and other accused in court on 6 March 2024, the court granted them bail by the court.

Congress leaders had strongly protested against the alleged corruption spread in the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation. On 27 February 2024 (while living in Congress at that time) MP Ravneet Singh Bittu, Congress workers led by former minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu locked the Municipal Corporation’s Chief Office Zone-A.

Uproar and clash during locking

When the Congress leaders reached the Municipal Corporation office to lock, the workers broke the police barricading despite the presence of officers and employees. MP Bittu, Bharat Bhushan Ashu and District Congress President Sanjay Talwad jumped over the barricading and reached the main gate. During this, the police also got shocked.

The municipal staff tried to use the cutter to break the lock, which Ravneet Bittu accused of running the cutter. However, the police officers present on the spot stopped the employees immediately. After this, the Congress leaders took the lock and took the key with them. The gate was later re -opened by cutting the lock.

Congress leaders demonstrated against the Municipal Corporation making serious allegations. He said that money is being sought for every work in the Municipal Corporation. Corruption is at the peak. The corporation lost crores of rupees due to losing the city bus case. Bittu had said, “When the Municipal Corporation is not doing good to the common people, what is the benefit of this office?”

Accused of attempting to cut hands with cutter

Union Minister Bittu had alleged that when he started locking the gate, an employee of the municipal corporation tried to cut his finger with a cutter. Former MLA Sanjay Talwad was injured in this incident. Bittu claimed that the Aam Aadmi Party MLAs were pressurizing the employees to run the cutters.

Congress attacked the government

At that time, Congress leaders targeted the Punjab government and said that corruption is flourishing in the Municipal Corporation at the instigation of Aam Aadmi Party MLAs. He demanded strict action against the Municipal Corporation and warned to continue the movement in future as well.
