Chinmoy Krishna Das is the name which is making headlines in the media of Bangladesh these days. In July this year, the youth of Bangladesh took to the streets. The youth were protesting against the reservation policy of Sheikh Hasina government of Bangladesh. Under this pressure, Sheikh Hasina had to resign and take refuge in India. After Hasina’s resignation, violence against religious minorities broke out in Bangladesh. In this, Hindus and Hindu properties were targeted. After this, Chinmay Das started raising voice against the rights and oppression of Hindus in Bangladesh. The result was that in the last four months, 38-year-old Chinmoy Krishna Das has become a well-known name in Bangladesh. Today he has emerged as the biggest leader of Hindus in Bangladesh.

Biography of Chinmoy Krishna Das

Before taking retirement, Chinmoy Krishna Das’s name was Chandan Kumar Dhar. He was born in May 1985 in Kariyanagar village of Satkania tehsil of Chittagong. He was interested in religious activities since childhood. He took sannyasa in 1997 at the age of 12. After taking sannyasa, he was known as Chinmoy Prabhu. Became known. When Chinmoy Das meets people, he greets them by saying ‘Prabhu Pranam’. He is the head of Pundarik Dham of ISKCON Chittagong. Pundarik Dham is one of the two places considered sacred for Hindus in Bangladesh. ISKCON has more than 50 temples and centers in eight cities of Bangladesh. He is also the spokesperson of Bangladesh Samit Sanatan Jagran Jot, formed by the merger of Bangladesh Sanatan Jagran Manch and Bangladesh Samit Sankh Laghu Jot. Along with running a school for Hindu children, he is also involved in many other socio-religious activities.

Chinmay Das is associated with the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, an organization that believes in Lord Krishna. This organization is known as ISKCON. The Intelligence Branch of Bangladesh Police had arrested him on Monday afternoon when he was going from Dhaka to Chittagong. The policemen who arrested him came in plain clothes. The press secretary of Bangladesh’s interim government chief Mohammad Yunus issued a statement on Monday night confirming the arrest of Chinmay Das.

Actually, a case of treason has been registered against Chinmay Krishna Das and 18 others at Kotwali police station in Chittagong. In this, these people have been accused of insulting the national flag of Bangladesh in New Market area of ​​Chittagong on October 25. On the day this case was registered, Bangladesh-based Sanatan Jagran Jot had organized a big rally regarding its eight-point demands. After his arrest, Chinmoy Das was produced in a Chittagong court. After this he was handed over to Dhaka Metropolitan Police. He was produced in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Qazi Shariful Islam. This court rejected his bail plea. After this he was sent to jail. Chinmoy Das’s lawyers have called his arrest baseless.

This complaint of treason against Chinmay Das was filed by Firoz Khan, a local worker of Khaleda Zia’s Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). Seeing no solid basis in this matter, BNP has expelled Firoz Khan from the party.

Violence broke out in Bangladesh after the news of Chinmay Krishna Das being sent to jail came to light. People took to the streets. Meanwhile, a 32-year-old lawyer named Saiful Islam was murdered in Chittagong. Due to this, the situation in Bangladesh has gone out of control. The Indian government has expressed deep concern in the case of Chinmay Das. Organizations like Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Art of Living have expressed concern over his arrest and demanded his immediate release.

After the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government, Chinmoy Das had organized two-three big rallies to protest against the attacks on minority Hindus in Bangladesh. A large number of people participated in these rallies. Along with this, Chinmay Das also became the target of Islamic fundamentalists.

When ISKCON felt that Chinmay Das was difficult to handle, it broke all relations with him. ISKCON in Bangladesh has also been the target of Muslim fundamentalists. On Thursday itself, an ISKCON center located in Shibchar, Bangladesh had to be closed due to opposition from the local people. The situation became such that the army had to be called to rescue the people trapped in this center of ISKCON.
