Holi Special: Abir-Gulal’s important courtyard, Chahunar Raunak… Colors of colors… It was such a childhood Holi…

Holi Special 2025: Falguni weather winds… love of loved ones. Abir and Gulal’s importance courtyard… Chahunar Raunak… Social song-music… Papad and Gujia’s smell… Holi Milan Samaroh… That was childhood Holi… because the magical mixture of colors and laughter looked different. As soon as Holika Dahan was done, the roads were filled with enthusiasm and the fragrance of sweets fresh in the air was smelling. When he got out on the day of the festival, he would be ready to throw colorful balloons on anyone with hands because the entire locality was transformed into a playground. The joy of coloring friends and neighbors, chasing the faces of laughter and dancing on the rhythm makes the moments unforgettable.

Fun and color on Holi in childhood are still in my memories. A time when the wind was filled with wet soil and fragrance of Gulal. For me, it was a festival that was just beyond the tradition and there was a feeling of joy when everything seemed careless and alive. As soon as the first ray of the sun touches the earth, the neighborhood would come alive. The face dyed in every color of the children came out laughing and screaming, holding a handful of color like a weapon of innocent mischief. We passed through the narrow streets, put colors on each other, the world around us would turn into canvas, every corner would have become an excellent work of yellow, pink, green and blue and showing the importance of this festival.

The morning starts with the stir of preparations – Mata Gujia and the kitchen would make sweets, their voice would be full of warmth, while other members of the house would be seen decorating water balloons and colors in a bucket filled with water… but it was not just color that used to make the day unforgettable… It was a feeling of brotherhood.

There was no obstacle between age or social status – everyone became an equal partner in the festival. Local elders, who were probably strict and away from the rest of the year, suddenly manifested their mischievous and used to bounce water balloons of colorful water or chase them to apply color to the children’s face. We used to shout while trying to get rid of their grip, but then we used to get caught in the blissful hug of color and affection.

At that time something was magical… The whole world felt wrapped in the mist of happiness. Colors used to color our clothes, our hands, our skin and sometimes, our souls that left behind a feeling of joy that could not be caught by anything else. I remember the laughter echoed in the narrow streets, the dholak and harmonium music was playing in the background, everyone was dancing, their steps were a bit more careless, slightly light. People often used to share and remember stories about Holi. While we used to run after the fleeting moments of fun, never realized that we are living a memory that will always be with us.

By noon, when the energy of the day started to calm down, the roads were filled with colorful faces, empty balloons and thousands of pleasant moments. Even then the magic remained, especially when we all gather for food for food, the faces would still be adorned with the lively memories of the festival. In the warmth of family and friends there, when we used to share laughter and delicious food, I realized that Holi is not only about colors in its origin. It is about bringing people together, removing grievances and obstacles and celebrating the purity of happiness. With the increase in time, the importance of this festival worked to connect us and the pleasant wind of colors has included everyone in happiness together.

Happy Holi to all of you… Be cool, be healthy.
