Meanwhile, the great Kapil Dev praised Jasprit Bumrah for leading India in the ongoing Perth Test against Australia and said that the visiting team has performed beyond expectations so far.

For the Perth Test, acting captain Bumrah took 5 wickets for 30 runs in the first innings and gave the team a significant lead of 46 runs, while Australia was out for just 104 runs. Bumrah’s 11th five-wicket haul in Test cricket was also his seventh in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia), which brought him equal to Kapil in terms of taking the most five-wicket haul in these countries.
“Special congratulations should be given to Bumrah because it is very rare that bowlers are chosen as captains and he has been seen leading the way,” Kapil told the media during the World Samudra Golden Eagle Golf Championship here. “It feels great to see him.” Kapil praised Bumrah for bringing fast bowling back into limelight in the country. He said, “I don’t need to say anything – their records show (how good they are). They are the top bowlers in the world, what more do we need?”
He said, “I had never thought that a fast bowler would be discussed so much in India, but today it is happening and I am happy and proud of it.” India made a spectacular comeback in the opening Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and were in complete control, with Yashasvi Jaiswal’s brilliant 161, KL Rahul’s 77 and Virat Kohli’s half-century taking their total lead beyond 400. Kapil said India’s performance was unlike any exception, as the team was recently beaten 0-3 by New Zealand at home.
He said, “The team is playing really well. They should win the first Test, positive thinking should always be there.” “It was not expected that the team would play so well after the New Zealand series. When they play bad you get angry, but when they play well you get love also,” he said, adding, “This (praise).” It is a team game for everyone. Today one player has performed well for the team and tomorrow it will be someone else,” Kapil said when asked about Jaiswal. “The Indian team has played very well. Jaiswal Sachin Tendulkar And after Rishabh Pant, he has become the third youngest player to score a Test century in Australia.
